Indian entertainment powerhouse Yash Raj Films (YRF) is partnering with rising production banner Posham Pa Pictures to jointly develop and produce theatrical features beginning in 2025.

Founded in 1970 by filmmaker Yash Chopra, YRF has grown into one of India’s largest film studios, delivering blockbusters that have shaped Hindi-language cinema for over five decades. The studio’s recent box office successes include “Pathaan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan, “War,” headlined by Hrithik Roshan, and “Tiger 3” with Salman Khan. Under the leadership of Aditya Chopra, who took the reins after his father’s passing in 2012, YRF has established itself as one of the premier forces in Indian action spectacles while maintaining its signature romantic drama roots.

The alliance pairs India’s storied legacy studio with the creative force behind streaming hits including Netflix’s “Kaala Paani,” “Mamla Legal Hai” and “Jaadugar” and Disney+ Hotstar’s “Home Shanti.” The partnership marks Posham Pa’s expansion into theatrical releases, with YRF providing studio infrastructure and distribution capabilities.

“It is truly the coming together of similar creative minds that are constantly striving for excellence by pushing the content envelope,” said YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani. “Posham Pa Pictures have shown that they know the pulse of the audience by giving us unique and incredibly fresh stories that have won them unanimous acclaim.”

The deal represents a key piece of Widhani’s strategy to evolve YRF’s studio model through strategic creative partnerships. For Posham Pa, founded by partners Sameer Saxena, Amit Golani, Biswapati Sarkar and Saurabh Khanna, the YRF alliance provides a platform to reach theatrical audiences that have won them unanimous acclaim. Our partnership will now aim to create ground-breaking theatrical experiences for today’s audiences who are seeking out new and novel storytelling to engage, endorse and celebrate.”

“The coming together of YRF and Posham Pa Pictures throw open a world of exciting, unchartered creative possibilities,” said Saxena. “We are thrilled at the opportunity to jointly create theatrical experiences like never before with YRF and entertain the audience with unique, fresh stories.”

The companies expect to announce their initial slate of theatrical projects in the coming months. The partnership takes effect in 2025.
