Just one peek at the top of the streaming charts, it becomes obvious that sci-fi TV shows have as high a success rate as any other genre in the medium. Netflix just concluded its biggest sci-fi show ever in 2025 with Stranger Things, which was on the air for almost 10 years. It’s positioned 3 Body Problem as its next big sci-fi show, but new reports indicate that the show might not be getting the ending that fans were hoping for. Even Prime Video has found a new center in the genre in Fallout, the video game adaptation that's earned the title as the streamer's most popular sci-fi series. Disney+ and Hulu have pooled their resources to focus on their next big sci-fi masterpiece, Paradise.

Paradise Season 1 premiered in January last year, and it picked up more viewers each week on its way to becoming one of the most popular shows of the year. The show was written and created for TV by Dan Fogelman (This Is Us), and it features Sterling K. Brown as Xavier Collins, a Secret Service agent tasked with investigating the death of President Cal Bradford (James Marsden). The show takes a hard turn into the sci-fi genre when it’s revealed that this investigation is happening underneath a bunker in Colorado after a volcanic eruption covered the atmosphere in ash and therefore made life on the surface uninhabitable. Paradise returned with its second season less than a year after the first season went off the air, and the show has charged into the Disney+ global top 10, where it’s been a top-three competitor since the arrival of Season 2. It's a perfect competitor to The Last of Us for fans missing the post-apocalyptic genre, though Paradise's world is much more forgiving.

Has ‘Paradise’ Been Renewed for Season 3?

Hulu officially renewed Paradise for a third season earlier this week. Creator Dan Fogelman has revealed that he has a clear three-season plan for the show, and Sterling K. Brown recently let slip that filming on Season 3 is set to begin within the next few months. Fogelman backed up this statement just a few days ago when he confirmed that cameras are set to roll in just a few weeks for the final season. After the official renewal announcement earlier this week, fans can expect more filming updates to come once the series resumes production.

Check out Paradise Season 2 on Hulu in America and on Disney+ globally, and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates and coverage of Season 3.
