Hulu has landed Australian thriller series Watching You, as U.S. buyers continue the recent trend of buying from the international drama market.

The acquisition is part of a wider agreement between Disney and distributor ITV Studios (ITVS) that sees Watching You also streaming across EMEA, including in the UK, on Disney+. The show, from Lingo Pictures, which premiere on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the U.S. and Disney+ in EMEA on February 20.

The six-part series from Alexei Mizin and Ryan van Dijk stars Aisha Dee (The Bold Type), Josh Helman (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Luke Cook (Good Cop/Bad Cop) and is based on best-selling novel ‘The Last Guests’ by J.P. Pomare, exploring privacy, relationships, technology and human nature.

The show follows Lina (Dee), who after a passionate one-night stand in a friend’s rental property is horrified to discover her affair has been captured by cameras hidden in the apartment. Amid mounting threats and paranoia, she sets out to unmask an insidious voyeur.

The show was for Australian streamer Stan and produced by Lingo in association with its parent, ITVS, the production and sales arm of ITV. Deadline first revealed news of the show in February last year.

After a slow period for international dramas, U.S. networks and streamers have begun shopping for scripted series from overseas, with Hulu’s acquisition the latest example.

Hulu is also renewing Love Island UK and Love Island Australia, as well as Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares. On the scripted front, it is also adding British thriller Malpractice, murder mystery Sparkling Cyanide and a selection of library classics such as Agatha Christie’s Marple and Agatha Christie’s Poirot.

Hulu has also renewed Vice shows Dark Side of ComedyDark Side of the 2000s, Dark Side of the Ring, F*ck, That’s Delicious and Dark Side of the Cage.
