The Game Awards celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2024. The annual awards show and video game trailer extravaganza hosted by Geoff Keighley returns on Thursday, Dec. 12 for a night that aims to celebrate the year’s best and biggest games, while giving viewers sneak peeks of games to come.

What reveals will be at this year’s Game Awards? We’re guaranteed to get new looks at Mafia: The Old Country, Borderlands 4, Dying Light: The Beast, and the next game from Hazelight Studios (It Takes Two, A Way Out) Beyond that 2025’s calendar is loaded. We could get fresh looks at upcoming releases like Sid Meier’s Civilization 7, Doom: The Dark Ages, Fable, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, Judas, and South of Midnight.

To keep viewers entertained between reveals and acceptance speeches, The Game Awards 2024 will feature performances from musical artists Twenty One Pilots, D4VD, Royal & the Serpent, and Snoop Dogg of Fortnite fame. Expect appearances from celebrity presenters Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, Troy Baker, Remedy Entertainment’s Sam Lake, and Hideo Kojima — who has no less than three games in development, with Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, OD, and Physint. Muppets Statler and Waldorf will also be in attendance.

In November, organizers revealed the nominees for 2024’s The Game Awards, with Astro Bot, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth garnering the most nominations, including Game of the Year. Only one category at The Game Awards is voted on exclusively by the public: Players’ Voice.

Last year’s The Game Awards was announcement-packed, with reveals for Marvel’s Blade, Light No Fire, Exodus, and many, many more. Sega alone announced new Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, and Crazy Taxi games during the 2023 awards show.

What are The Game Awards Game of the Year nominees?

The full list of The Game Awards nominees for 2024 was revealed in mid-November. Six games are up for the Game of the Year award, which typically closes out the show. This year’s Game of the Year nominees are:

How long are The Game Awards?

The shows typically run 3.5 hours, including a 30-minute pre-show. The Game Awards organizers have not announced how long the 2024 event will be, but expect something between three and four hours long.
