How to solve the Fountain of Confession puzzles in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

1 week ago 3

You’ll reach the Fountain of Confession in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle as you progress “The Stolen Cat Mummy” adventure. Once you reach the fountain, you’ll have to solve a puzzle to open a secret door, and then solve more puzzles to get inside.

The first puzzle involves three dragon statues at the Fountain of Confession itself. Once you solve that one, you’ll have to solve a baptism-themed statue puzzle. And finally, there’s a Ark of the Bulrushes-themed rotating rings puzzle.

Our Indiana Jones and the Great Circle guide will show you how to solve the Fountain of Confession puzzle, the baptism statue puzzle, and the Ark of the Bulrushes puzzle.

How to solve the fountain puzzle

After you solve the Sacred Wounds puzzle and explore the Giant Warrior’s Tomb, you’ll find a parchment that suggests there’s a secret entrance at the Vatican’s Fountain of Confession.

When you get there, take a photo of the dragon statue in the center of the fountain, and then photograph the inscriptions to the left and the right. Indy will translate them as saying, basically, “make the dragons face each other.” Now you just have to find the dragons.

Head over to the left side of the fountain to find a chest on the ground. Open it to find the Fountain Gate Key and then use it on the gate to your right.

Inside whip-climb up to the first landing above you. Turn around and whip onto the beam. Hold the left trigger and climb up Indy’s whip a bit, and then swing across to the window.

You’ll end up on top of the scaffolding and you’ll be able to see the two dragons the inscriptions mentioned. Ignore them for now, though.

Instead, turn to the right and look down along the scaffolding. You’ll see an item below you. Drop down to it to find the Dragon Claw. At this point, Gina will show up.

When Gina startled Indy, he broke some boards on the scaffold. Now you can climb up the outside. Do that, and climb up to the first dragon statue — the one on the left side of the fountain.

At the front, equip the Dragon Claw and slot it into the statue. Turn it, and a handle will pop up. Use the handle to turn the entire statue until it’s facing the other dragon statue on the far side.

Use the flagpole to whip across to the other dragon. Repeat the process — turn the claw and then use the handle to rotate the statue — to make this dragon face back at the other one.

Drop back down to the ground and hop into the fountain. Whip the handle on the dragon statue there and yank it to open the secret door.

How to solve the baptism puzzle

After the fountain is done turning, a new handle will appear on the outside. Hop down and turn it with Gina.

This will bring a new baptism-themed puzzle to the front.

To solve it, you have to get water from the right side to splash onto the statue on the left. The steps are:

  • Move the left statue (the baptisee?) to the right
  • Whip yank the ring to pour the water
  • Move the right statue (the baptiser?) to the left

As you move the right statue, it will turn and then dump its water.

Once the puzzle is done clunking, the handle will reappear on the outside of the fountain. Hop down and turn it again.

How to solve the Ark of Bulrushes puzzle

The other puzzle is boat-themed — the Ark of the Bulrushes — and you have to rotate a few rings to make the path clear for the boat.

The tricky part is there are wooden blocks what will slide and lock rings together. To solve it:

  • Spin the outermost ring three times counterclockwise (to the left)
  • Spin the middle ring one time clockwise (to the right)
  • Spin the innermost ring two times in either direction.

Once the puzzle rotates back to its starting point, all that’s left is to push the remaining statue straight forward. When it locks into place, a staircase will appear that leads to the Underworld.
