Early on in both the normal and cruel difficulties of Act 1 in Path of Exile 2, you will encounter a closed and locked gate in the Cemetery of the Eternals. Your quest objective will simply tell you to open the gate to proceed, with no indication of how to do so. Here is how to open the Memorial Gate in the cemetery in Path of Exile 2 and proceed with the quest.
How to open the Memorial Gate
In order to open the Memorial Gate in the Cemetery of the Eternals you need to defeat two specific bosses and obtain their key pieces. Both key pieces are required to actually open the Memorial Gate and proceed further into the cemetery. Thankfully, you can access both of the bosses from the cemetery, with one located in the Tomb of the Consort and the other in the Mausoleum of the Praetor. This is how you can obtain each key piece:
Obtain Asinia’s Memorial Key Piece
Search around on the side of the locked Memorial Gate that you are in and you will eventually come across the Tomb of the Consort. Proceed through the randomly generated map and you will find Asinia, the Praetor’s Consort.
Asinia will enlist the aid of Draven in is ephemeral form, and both will fight you throughout this encounter. The key part of this fight is dodging the AOE circular green glyphs that Asinia puts under you as they deal massive damage. There are four successive glyphs in total, with the final one being bigger than the others. Just keep moving and dodging out of them.
The other major ability to watch out for is when Asinia puts a circular bone wall around you. Quickly focus damage on a side of the wall so you can escape before Asinia casts an ability targeted inside the wall that can kill you.
After defeating Asinia, the Praetor’s Consort you will receive Asinia’s Memory Key Piece, the first piece required to open the Memorial Gate.
Acquire Draven’s Memorial Key Piece
Next head into the other area on this side of the Memorial Gate in the Cemetary of the Eternals, called the Mausoleum of the Praetor. Once again proceed through the randomly generated map until you reach Draven, the Eternal Praetor.
The Draven encounter can also be a challenging one. Draven performs a consistent four-swing-sword combo by default, so be sure to keep dodging out of the way. He will occasionally also swing his sword in a giant arc that sends out deadly bolts that you will need to dodge.
Make sure you dodge the various ghostly minions that appear on the ground, as stepping on them will cause them to spawn into the physical world and begin attacking you, which can be overwhelming on top of trying to dodge Draven’s attacks and killing him.
After some time Draven will cry out for Asinia, which adds her to the fight as well. You’ll have to dodge her AOE glyphs that she places on the ground just like her previous encounter.
After defeating Draven, the Eternal Praetor, you will receive Draven’s Memorial Key Piece. Teleport back to the Cemetery of the Eternals waypoint and approach the Memorial Gate. With both key pieces in hand, you will open the Memorial Gate and be able to proceed through Act 1.
