How to get Cece in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Finding the right villagers for your unique island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons can be tough since there are over 500 to choose from, including quite a few special collaboration characters. One such character is Cece, and she’s by far one of the trickiest to get.

If you’re interested in adding any crossover villager to your island, you have to put in quite a bit of extra work to unlock them. There’s no villager hunting involved, but there are still some tricky key steps to work through. Here’s how to get Cece in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

How to unlock Cece in Animal Crossing New Horizons

To get Cece as a villager on your island, you must scan a Splatoon amiibo. Only a very specific set of amiibo will call her to your village, though, and she has a fairly limited number to choose from, especially in comparison to Viché, the other Splatoon character, and Tulin or Mineru, the Zelda villagers.

While the vast majority of villagers can be obtained in a few different ways, Cece is an amiibo-exclusive character, which means scanning one is the only way to recruit her. This process can be a bit tricky to work through, especially if it’s your first time, so here’s everything you need to do to summon her.

• Obtain a valid Splatoon amiibo. Check out the list below of all amiibo that work for Cece, and pick one to get and use for her.
• Head to resident services. Visit the building near the back of the plaza and head inside.
• Interact with the ABD. Walk over to the green machine in the corner and interact with it.
• Choose the “Invite amiibo camper” option. It’s the fourth item in the list.
• Scan the Splatoon amiibo. Get your Splatoon amiibo ready and scan it to one of the NFC touchpoints on your Switch, which are the joysticks.
• Invite Cece. After scanning the amiibo, she’ll appear and ask if you wish for her to come to the island. Say yes, and she’ll arrive in your campsite.
• Finish Cece’s requests. Once Cece arrives, head to the campsite to chat with her. Fulfill whatever request she makes to begin the unlocking process.
• Repeat these steps for three days. Go through all of these steps again for two additional days, making three days in total, to officially unlock Cece.

In total, there are 11 Splatoon amiibo you can scan to call Cece to your island. This is quite a bit less than most other characters, as Viché has 18 to choose from, Tulin has 16, and Mineru has 15. Here are all of the options that work.

In addition to those listed above, you can also use the special Big Man (Splatoon) amiibo to summon Cece. This one is unique since it is the only amiibo that can be used to call either Cece or Viché, while all others only call upon one of the two.
