Fresh off its first anniversary celebration, Marvel Rivals is kicking off 2026 strong with a chunky patch. Unfortunately, rivals looking to jump into the Timestream Entanglement are hitting a roadblock.
The roadblock we’re talking about is Error Code 270, a connection issue that’s putting a severe cramp in many Marvel Rivals players’ New Year’s Day plans. And no one likes cramps, so let’s see what we can do to fix this.
Error Code 270 error in Marvel Rivals, explained
Screenshot by DestructoidError Code 270 seems to appear whenever Marvel Rivals gets a big update. Players on Reddit and the official Marvel Rivals Discord server were discussing the glitch as far back as March of last year, so it’s clearly not a recent development. While there aren’t many details to go off of, most people agree the glitch is a network-handshake issue that likes to crop up when too many people try to log in to the game.
Since the Code 270 error seems to be tied to server traffic, the best way to fix it is to wait a bit for the traffic to settle down. If you’re running into the glitch, turn off Marvel Rivals and wait a few minutes, then try to log back into the game. If that doesn’t work, you might have to shut down and restart your computer or console to jumpstart your connection. Based on the responses I saw on Reddit and Discord, this usually works.
If you still can’t log onto Marvel Rivals after you’ve restarted your system, you might have to check your internet connection. If you have a wireless Internet connection, restarting your router is the best option. Alternatively, if you have a wired Internet connection, try switching to a wireless setup and see if that clears up the issue.
Should all these fixes fail, odds are Marvel Rivals is experiencing a major server issue. NetEase puts a lot of effort into keeping players informed of the game’s server status through Discord and the official Marvel Rivals Twitter page. There’s also Downdetector, which monitors Marvel Rivals and other online games for server issues. With these tools, you can always know if something funky is happening with the servers.
All things considered, the Code 270 error is a pretty easy glitch to get around. Just be a little patient, and you should be back to playing Marvel Rivals again in no time.
