Where to find Tenebrous Papilla in Genshin Impact

The Tenebrous Papilla can be found in the Natlan region of Version 5.2. It’s located near the Flower-Feather Clan, a place you may have explored during the Every Aspect of a Warrior quest.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to reach the boss from the upper level, as it can only be found underground. Use a cave opening down south, where you can unlock a waypoint.

Continue forward inside the cave until you reach a purple tree-like figure. Approach it to begin the Tenebrous Papilla battle. You can also interact with a nearby waypoint near the tree to return to this stage at any time.

How to defeat Tenebrous Papilla in Genshin Impact

The Tenebrous Papilla takes on the form of different World Bosses that you may have encountered previously. Since it involves a variety of foes, there isn’t necessarily a wrong choice when it comes to your team. You have the freedom to choose characters that suit your playstyle. But if you need some suggestions, you can go with Amber, Thoma, Kachina, Xiangling, Kinich, or Emilie.

There are three possible lineups you can encounter with the Tenebrous Papilla. Here’s a detailed look into what they could be:

Even though the Tenebrous Papilla showcases different forms, your strategy for each will be more or less the same. You can do simple melee attacks initially, but avoid it once it begins its transformation. The boss will most likely unleash an attack at this point, so it’s best to run away whenever it transforms.

The Tenebrous Papilla will then initiate a Void Ward stage, placing itself in the center of the battlefield. Only Natlan enemies can indulge in this technique, triggering an invincible state to regular attacks. The goal here is to use Elemental strikes to deal damage. You can also utilize Nightsoul-aligned Elemental attacks for better efficiency. This is where characters like Kachina and Kinich can be handy, given that Natlan members hold this power.

If you don’t have any of these characters, don’t worry. You can still succeed. Just be sure to use Elemental attacks as much as possible, and you’ll be golden. However, those who don’t deal enough damage during the Void Ward stage will immediately lose all HP for their current character. Utilize a regenerative item to get them back in the field.

When else fails, equip one of the Natlan characters to help clear out the Void Ward more efficiently.
