Prince William Makes Rare Comment About Bond With Late Queen Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth II's spirit lives on with her loved ones.
More than three years after the monarch died at age 96, the royal family celebrated what would have been her 100th birthday.
Ahead of the April 21 milestone, Elizabeth's son King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla visited the "Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style" exhibition at The King's Gallery at Buckingham Palace. The exhibit featured the largest display of the late royal's fashion, including her iconic rainbow of coat dresses and her pearl-adorned ivory silk wedding dress from 1947.
After admiring his mother's stylish collection of more than 300 items, Charles and Camilla attended a viewing for the Queen Elizabeth Memorial at the British Museum April 21.
The royal couples were then joined by Prince William and Kate Middleton—parents to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7—later that evening for a reception at Buckingham Palace in honor of Elizabeth.
Kate, for her part, paid homage to her grandmother-in-law by wearing a three-strand pearl necklace, a staple of Elizabeth's wardrobe. The Princess of Wales previously donned the accessory at a lunch in 2022 at Buckingham Palace during the official mourning period following the late Queen's death.
Charles—who ascended to the throne after Elizabeth's passing in September 2022—also reflected on his mother's legacy in a loving tribute.

"Her near century was one of remarkable change," he said in an April 20 Instagram video, "and yet, through each passing decade, through every transformation, she remained constant, steadfast and wholly devoted to the people she served."

"Millions will remember her for moments of national significance," he continued. "Many others for a fleeting personal encounter, a smile, a kind word that lifted spirits or for that marvelous twinkle of the eye when sharing a marmalade sandwich with Paddington Bear in the final months of her life."
As the royal family continues to celebrate Elizabeth, keep reading for a look back at her life in photos.
