Oscars 2026: How Hailee Steinfeld, Pregnant Wunmi Mosaku Bonded on Sinners Set
Wunmi Mosaku is having a fang-tastic time at the 2026 Academy Awards.
The Sinners star—who is pregnant and expecting her second baby—arrived at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles donning a emerald green Louis Vuitton gown for the March 15 ceremony, where she is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the horror blockbuster.
And prior to the festivities, Wunmi offered insight on her behind-the-scenes dynamic with costar Hailee Steinfeld, who is also preparing to welcome her first child with husband Josh Allen.
“Sometimes I felt like we were in pure delirium,” the 39-year-old exclusively told Zuri Hall of the film's lengthy night shoots during Live From E! Oscars 2026. “We would play lots of card games. I introduced everyone to Rummikub—my favorite game—and Bananagrams.”
But Wunmi—who will compete against Weapons’ Amy Madigan, One Battle After Another’s Teyana Taylor and Sentimental Value’s Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas for Oscar gold—admitted that the on-set pastime often got competitive between her costars, especially one cast member in particular.
"We took our games very seriously," she continued, "especially Jayme Lawson." (See every star at the 2026 Oscars by clicking here.)
The Oscars will conclude an incredible award season for the Nigerian-born actress—who keeps her husband and child out of the spotlight—as she previously shared how amazed she was at the response to her portrayal of Annie in Sinners.
“Seeing dark-skinned women, full-figured women, feel so loved and seen by the film felt very embracing,” Wunmi told The Hollywood Reporter in November. “It felt really healing to hear people say, ‘I’m so glad,’ ‘I’m so happy,’ ‘I needed to see this, feel this, know that this is how we can be loved, should be loved, are loved,’ and not the stereotypes that we see continuously online or onscreen of whoever wants to paint us however they want to paint us.”
The film also gave her a chance to work with writer and director Ryan Coogler, who told her that he’d seen a trailer for her HBO series We Own This City, and knew he had to cast her.
“He said there was a scene where he was like, ‘Oh, there’s my Annie,’ and then he continued to write the role with me in mind,” Wunmi shared. “But I still auditioned in the sense that we had to get on. It had to be a good working relationship. Because the thing about Ryan is that he creates family, so he’s like, ‘Can I bring you into the fold?’”
