He made it crystal clear that “It’s not a continuation of Into The Spider-Verse. Once Phil and Chris introduced the idea of the multiverse, I think you’re allowed to take things and make them your own.” The launch of Ben Reilly in the series was to "make a version of Spider-Man that no-one had ever seen before."
Uziel added that he has been able to see the Spider-Noir series with Cage, and how the actor “spoke his own lines back, with pleasure and glee." For the showrunner, “it was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever experienced.”
The Spider-Noir TV show will center on Ben's crusade in the 1930s, where he operates as The Spider, rather than Spider-Man. With Phil Lord and Chris Miller executive producing the series, they now get to tap into the live-action side of the Marvel franchise after their success with the animated movies.
The drama will also explore versions of Spider-Man villains through the lens of the 1930s, including Sandman and Electro. The arrival of Spider-Noir is coming in the same year as the web-slinger is making his return to the big screen, as Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives on July 31.
Spider-Noir is scheduled to launch domestically on MGM+ on May 25 before going worldwide on Prime Video on May 27.
