Sam Worthington proved chivalry isn't dead on Friday, as he stepped with his wife Lara for a romantic park date.

The couple appeared very much in love as they enjoyed a summery stroll, holding hands and soaking up the sun.

The Avatar star, 48, cut a casual figure in a navy blue T-shirt featuring a bright red star on the chest.

He paired it with matching chinos and black Adidas sneakers, finishing his outfit with dark sunglasses.

Carrying what appeared to be a bottle of spray-on sunscreen, Sam was also sporting a hint of stubble.

Meanwhile, Lara, 37, seemed to have borrowed from Sam's wardrobe, opting for a large, oversized collared shirt.

The loose-fitting olive checked shirt camouflaged Lara's svelte frame, finishing at her thighs.

She also wore a pair of figure hugging burgundy gym shorts that were all but hidden by her oversized shirt.

Lara finished her outfit with a pair of black running shoes and a pair of light blue ankle socks.

The long-standing couple put on quite the romantic display as they enjoyed the child-free day out without sons Rocket, nine, Racer, eight, and River, four.

As they strolled hand-in-hand through the park, Sam proved just how much of a romantic he really was.

In what was quite the suave move, Sam lovingly brought his wife's hand to his lips, offering a gentle and chivalrous kiss.

Lara appeared quite besotted with the romantic act, looking into her husbands eyes and smiling as he executed the intimate action.

It wasn't all canoodling for the couple however, with Lara pulling out a soccer ball at one point during their outing.

Lara meanwhile appears to have raided Sam's closet, choosing a large, oversized collard shirt

It wasn't all canoodling for the couple however, with Lara producing a soccer ball at one point during their outing.

Lara appeared in quite a playful mood, gleefully throwing the ball in the air and attempting to bounce it on her knee.

Meanwhile, Sam preferred to be a spectator and happily watched his wife show off her ball handling skills.

Not even another loving gesture — Sam putting his arm around Lara's waist — could take her eye off the ball

Sam's night out with his wife Lara at the 2024 GQ Men of the Year Awards got off to a bumpy start when a red carpet interview with the couple went horribly wrong on live TV.

Channel Seven reporter Sally Bowery introduced Sam's 37-year-old wife to viewers of the Sydney event by her maiden name Lara Bingle - and it went down like a lead balloon.

'Her name is Lara Worthington,' the 48-year-old Avatar star clapped back.

'It's only been ten years,' a clearly irritated Sam quickly added.

Bowery quickly apologised for he faux pas.

'That was my slip,' she said.

Later on in the evening, the Avatar star was crowned GQ's Man of the Year.

Following the incident, Sally broke her silence and revealed how she really feels about Sam's tense reaction to her error.

Writing in a column for Seven, the experienced reporter admitted she is 'at a loss' about why her blunder caused so much offence as she criticised Sam for his reaction.

'I said Lara's maiden name. Not the wrong name. Just a name she had used for a big part of her life. One that was a household name, long before she met her husband,' Sally said.

She insisted Lara herself didn't seem 'the least bit bothered' by her slip-up and laughed it off as she shared her confusion about why Sam wanted her referred to by her married name.

Sally argued: 'So why then at an event celebrating what it now means to be a modern man didn’t her husband? A married woman’s identity is far more than her husband’s surname.'

She then went on to cite Sam's own acceptance speech when he was crowned Man of The Year hours later, in which he spoke about the need to move past outdated notions.

'[He told] the crowd that men ''can love others unconditionally and respectfully, without having to live up to some outdated standard or some stereotypical, archaic, and just plain sad idea of what a man should be''. I couldn’t agree more,' she concluded.

Sam and Lara began dating in 2013 and married secretly in 2014 and have since welcomed three sons - Racer, eight, River, four and Rocket, nine.
