Hold Up, Is One Piece Finally Ready to Reveal Bonnie's Father?

4 hours ago 12

The One Piece manga previously teased that Bonney’s biological father is a World Noble. With the confirmation in chapter 1137 that Shanks’ twin brother Shamrock is also a World Noble, this reveal hints that he may be Bonney's previously unidentified father. Although it was previously speculated that Jaygracia Saturn may be the culprit behind her mother’s capture and the man she was forced to marry, Shamrock seems the more plausible option, for a handful of compelling reasons.

Shamrock's family had proximity to Bonney in her past, and his relationship with his children may mirror that of his pirate brother and his non-canonical child, Uta. King Harold of Elbaph was killed 14 years ago, around the same time Ginny was kidnapped, and it’s possible Shamrock was active during this time. Not only are Bonney and Kuma both on Elbaph, where Shamrock happens to be now, but it appears he and his partner won’t be going anywhere soon. These details seem to hint at a future confrontation between the three characters and Luffy and a potential reveal of Bonney's father's identity.

What We Know About Bonney’s Father So Far

Bonney’s Biological Father Was A World Noble And Had Bonney Kidnapped

So far, all audiences know about Bonney’s father is that he was a Celestial Dragon/World Noble who was attracted to her mother, Ginny, and had her kidnapped 14 years ago while she served as the East Army commander of the Revolutionary Army. In a manga panel, we see a shadow of someone approaching her, which strongly suggests that her father carried out the deed himself. She became the eighth wife of a World Noble and was subjected to experiments by Jaygarcia Saturn, which led to her contracting the Sapphire Scales disease due to a failed trial.

It is assumed that she and the Celestial Dragon conceived Bonney, and when she was eventually freed from bondage, Ginny used her time to return to Sorbet before succumbing to the illness she passed down to her daughter. Although it was speculated that Saturn could be Bonney’s father due to his proximity in her and Kuma’s lives, the more the Elbaph arc has continued, the more it appears Shamrock fits the bill better.

Why Shamrock Could Be Bonney’s Real Father

Bonney’s Unique Hair And Ginny’s Ties To God’s Valley Play A Part

One Piece chapter 1137 revealed Shanks’ twin, Shamrock Figarland, as a World Noble and leader of the God’s Knights in lieu of his father Garling’s promotion to Grosei. Garling and Bonney were once in close proximity to one another, as she and Ivan Ivonkov were partly responsible for the God’s Valley incident Garling competed in. What a cruel twist of fate it would be if the son of the man involved in the incident also had a son that finished what his father started by tormenting the young Ginny. It’s possible he was the shadow that approached and kidnapped her.

One Piece Teases Loki's True Powers, Setting Up His Secret Tie to Shanks

Chapter 1136 of the One Piece manga might have hinted at Loki's hidden power, all thanks to a specific design choice.

Not only do these background details suggest this as a possibility, but it could also explain Bonney's pink hair, which appears to be an offshoot of Shamrock’s red hair. Shanks has a non-canonical daughter he adopted who loves him, but in contrast, Shamrock could have a canonical daughter who’s biologically his and who hates him. Both men are already the inverse of each other, with Shanks chasing the figurative sun in Luffy and Shamrock adhering to the figurative moon in his father. Bonney and her adopted father, Kuma, are on Elbalph with the Straw Hats and Shamrock, and a possible confrontation could be brewing.

Although there’s much more to unfold on Elbaph, the introduction of Shamrock adds a brand-new layer of possibilities to several longstanding theories, including the true identity of Bonney’s father and Ginney’s kidnapper, both of which need significant resolution, since they are two of One Piece's greatest unresolved mysteries from Egghead Island.
