While speculation abounds around Hogwarts Legacy 2, one of the many things that remains unclear is what time frame the sequel will take place in. One of the few official things players know is that the studio wants to continue to work on the sequel and that they want it to tie into the new HBO show, but in what capacity or in what way is not known. However, there is one era that would make the sequel quite exciting.
The ending of Hogwarts Legacy felt complete at the time, although many were speculating that the reason they started in Year 5 was so that they could make a trilogy following with Year 6 and Year 7in the sequels. While that could still be the case, the way the first game ended leaves room for them to move away to a new era if they should choose. If they do, they could still tie into the new HBO show while not coinciding with the more familiar eras of Harry Potter.

An Exciting Time To See Hogwarts
Moving away from any era that fans know much of, the school’s founding could be the perfect time for a video game to take place. It’s familiar enough to fans would be excited to see it, but so little is actually known that it would be nearly brand new to explore. There is a lot of unknowns beyond what was revealed in Chamber of Secrets, and there is plenty to see.
While Hogwarts Legacy is a primarily self-contained experience, its sequel has the perfect chance to bring book characters to life for the first time.
Seeing the school look all shiny and new could be a fun time, like seeing the castle as it was meant to be. There would likely be a lot of differences between the castle that is more familiar and the brand-new one. It would give players lots of reasons to explore that wouldn’t mean exploring the exact same map that existed in the first game.
Interacting With Hogwarts' Founders Would Be A Lot Of Fun
Powerful Wizards & Interesting Personalities
While it is known that there was eventually a falling out between the founders, when the school first started they were all working together to build something new. The founders were mostly explored in the Sorting Hat's songs and in the creation of the chamber when things were starting to fall apart, so this would be a good opportunity to see all four of them at their finest and when things were most cohesive between them.
Interacting with the likes of Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin themselves would be exciting for a lot of HP fans. We know very little about them other than what their Houses stand for and there’s so much that could be added in. And, as the player gets to pick their House in Hogwarts Legacy, it would make it even more exciting to not only choose a House but get to study directly under the founder.

Discovering The Truth Behind The Stories
In terms of being able to tie into the HBO Harry Potter series, there is plenty of potential. The founders, while mysterious, are the central driving force behind the Horcrux hunt near the end of the series. Nearly all the founders had an important object that becomes a Horcrux, while Gryffindor’s blade is the object that destroys them. It’s an important tie into the series and something that could be explored in the game.

Fans know much more about the downfalls of each founder than they do the actual founding of Hogwarts. It’s odd that such an important era has been abandoned for so long, but seeing it fully come to life with the possibility for meaningful choices, bonds of friendship with new companions, and an overhauled setting would be more exciting in this format than in a television series.
Like the relationship with Professor Fig in the first game, players would truly be able to form a relationship with the founders, get to know them on a personal level, and see what really happened as opposed to stories that were passed down. Additionally, the first game explored the idea of Ancient Magic, and the sequel could truly lean into that idea as it takes place much earlier. As both Harry and Tom Riddle have direct connections to two founders, it’s the perfect era to explore in a new way in Hogwarts Legacy 2.
