Hilary Duff honors her ex Aaron Carter during Philadelphia concert four years after his shock passing

Hilary Duff found a touching way to honor her late ex-boyfriend Aaron Carter while performing at the TD Pavilion in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Sunday.

The former Disney Channel – turning 39 next month – donned a vintage Aaron Carter T-shirt to remember the former child star she romanced between December 2000 and June 2003, according to fan footage.

Carter accidentally drowned in the bathtub of his Lancaster, California home in 2022, at age 34, after inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam (Xanax) and his ashes were interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The I Want Candy singer - who left behind a $500,000 estate - is survived by his four-year-old son Princeton 'Prince' Lyric Carter and his former fiancée Melanie Martin is suing his dentist Jason Mirabile for wrongful death.

Carter wasn't alone as the 'cursed' family previously suffered the loss of his sister Leslie in 2012 and sister Bobbie Jean in 2023 to drug overdoses, so the only remaining siblings are his twin sister Angel Conrad and big brother Nick.

'I'm friends with Aaron Carter's sister still, Angel,' Duff revealed to Las Culturistas podcast on April 1.

'Our kids go to the same school. She's a lovely literal angel of a person. We're very close. We talk about Aaron often.'

The blonde Texan went on to reveal she 'connected' with the five-time rehabbed singer during a phone session with a psychic, who didn't know her identity.

'She's like, "Well, people are going to start showing up for you. And there's someone here, Aaron. A two A's, Aaron,"' Duff recalled.

'My heart! I was like, "Oh my god." And I was like, "Is it Aaron Carter?" And she's like, "Sure is! What the hell is he doing here?" And I was like, "Well, that's my childhood boyfriend. And you know, that would make sense to me."

'And she's like, "Are you Hilary Duff?" And she was like, "[Your song] So Yesterday helped me through my breakup and I will never not love you." And I was like, "Oh my god, so funny! Thank you so much." Anyway, yeah, a really wild experience.'

Following his shocking passing, the SI Swimsuit cover girl previously paid tribute to Carter.

'For Aaron, I'm deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in front of the whole world,' Duff - who boasts 44.5 million social media followers - wrote on Instagram.

'You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent... Boy, did my teenage self love you deeply. Sending love to your family at this time. Rest easy.'

The Daily Mail has reached out to the Mature songstress's rep but did not immediately hear back.

Duff has welcomed three daughters - Banks, seven, Mae, five, and Townes, two - with her second husband Matthew Koma.

The homeschooled millennial is also mother to 14-year-old son Luca Comrie from her three-year marriage to ex-husband Mike Comrie, which ended in 2014 (divorce finalized in 2016).

Duff was still married to the 45-year-old retired NHL centre when she originally met the 39-year-old music producer in 2013 while collaborating on her fifth studio album – Breathe In. Breathe Out.

The married couple of six years began dating in 2017, and he oversaw the recording of her sixth studio album, Luck... or Something.

Duff is next scheduled to bring her 57-date Lucky Me Tour to Canada for sold-out concerts at the RBC Amphitheatre in Toronto, Ontario, this Wednesday and Thursday.

It marks the Growing Up singer's first world tour in nearly 20 years.

Duff's opening acts are all led by women – English synth-pop act La Roux as well as Canadian crooners Lauren Spencer Smith and Jade LeMac.

The Weather for Tennis songstress is also every bit the influencer with paid partnerships for brands like Aperol Spritz, Bath & Body Works, Ladder and Montage Laguna Beach.

Duff - who pulls 3.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify - originally got her start playing the titular role in the Disney Channel comedy series Lizzie McGuire (2001-2004) and the 2003 big-screen spin-off.
