A well-rounded team can dominate in Highguard, and a stout defender like Una can often be the key. She won't excel at area denial like Slade, or buff teammates like Mara, but Una can protect objectives when it counts the most – and receive good, exclusive loot while doing so.

At first glance, Una's kit seems like it might work well with a fire-and-forget strategy, but she won't reach her full potential unless you manage your resources smartly. Below we'll walk through each of Una's abilities and how best to use them, then discuss some general strategies, including which weapons to look out for.

How To Use Una’s Abilities

Una's character screen in Highguard, showing her three abilities.

All three of Una's abilities involve her leafy little friends, with her Ultimate making use of a notably bigger friend:

Ability

Type

Description

Forest Wisps

Tactical

Summon mischievous spirits who lob concussion grenades at enemies.

Helping Hand

Passive

Spirits appear to give Una loot.

Tree Walker

Ultimate

Summon a large forest spirit that throws smaller explosive spirits at enemies.

Forest Wisps

Una's Tactical is the most important ability to master when playing her. If you hold the Tactical button, you can see where the Forest Wisp will spawn – it has a limited range, and won't always go exactly where you're aiming. These little guys stand in one spot and lob concussion grenades at enemies, which can give you a major advantage in fights.

It's important to remember that the Forest Wisps are not effective without you around; concussing an enemy is pointless if you're not there to shoot them. Una therefore excels when you can draw enemies into territory you're controlling with your minions. You also need to take note that the Wisps can be destroyed by enemies, so you want to hide them in corners or clever perches.

Helping Hand

Loot isn't hard to come by in Highguard, but Una's Helping Hand Passive can come in handy. The loot Wisps seem to most often appear next to chests. They can be easy to miss, so listen for audio cues of Una talking to them. This is an incredibly straightforward ability, but it's easy to forget about – you don't want to miss a legendary weapon being hand-delivered to you.

Tree Walker

Una's Ultimate is a lot like her Tactical: you place the Tree Walker, and it does the rest. The Tree Walker is much larger than the smaller Wisps, which it throws. The big difference, however, is that the Tree Walker deals damage, rather than concussing enemies. Since Ultimate's can only be used a few times per match, you'll want to make sure you select a good spot. You will almost always want to summon the Tree Walker during a raid.

Best Weapons & Strategies To Use With Una

Highguard character Una summoning a tall tree creature.

One of the best things about playing Una is that it gives you a lot of flexibility in which weapons you use. You don't have to actively control her abilities once they're placed, so you're free to engage from any distance. Just because of her proclivity for defense, however, Una should always be equipped with at least one close-range weapon. My personal preference is the Viper SMG, but the Corsair and the two shotguns are good choices as well.

The Tree Walker is most effective near an objective, whether you're defending it or holding the area while trying to destroy the bomb site. You don't want to be caught in confined spaces with only long-range weapons. Be sure to use Forest Wisps as much as possible near raid objectives as well; stunning enemies and bombarding them with the Tree Walker simultaneously can be potent. Wisps can be useful in other situations as well, but being stationary hurts their viability in a lot of situations outside of raid phases.

Una likely isn't going to rack up kills like Atticus, but making an area difficult for enemies to traverse can be the difference between winning and losing a match. She's a utility-heavy Warden, and one of the more interesting in Highguard, plus the hands-off approach to her design makes her a good choice when trying to learn the ropes in the free-to-play shooter.
