As for the film itself, Variety’s chief film critic Peter Debruge called “Heretic,” an “entertaining ride,” while Hugh Grant‘s performance as the menacing Mr. Reed, as “genteelly terrifying as a creep hell-bent on converting others,” in his review.
Directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, “Heretic” follows Sister Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) and Sister Paxton (Chloe East), two Mormon missionaries going door-to-door spreading the word of Jesus Christ and the Church of Latter-Day Saint. However, when they knock on the door of Mr. Reed (Hugh Grant), the pair get more than they bargained for, as their faith in Heavenly Father is tested for the ultimate price — their lives.
The film also stars Topher Grace, Elle Young, Julie Lynn Mortensen and others.
