Heidi Klum, 53, and husband Tom Kaulitz, 37, embrace her German roots in traditional outfits as they enjoy date night at Oktoberfest in Munich

Heidi Klum and her husband Tom Kaulitz embraced her German heritage in traditional Bavarian attire as they enjoyed a date night at Oktoberfest in Munich on Friday.

The German supermodel, 53, was joined by Tom, 37, for the raucous two-week celebration at the Bavarian capital's sprawling Theresienwiese.

The annual festival, which features an array of fairground rides, food stalls and attractions, was first held in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. It now attracts more than seven million visitors each year.

Heidi made sure to be among the crowds after travelling back to her native Germany from the United States, where she lives with her husband and her children.

Dressed in a blue traditional Bavarian dirndl, the model was all smiles as she played with an automatic handheld bubble blower.

Tom, the lead guitarist of rock band Tokio Hotel, coordinated with his wife in a traditional waistcoat and lederhosen, completing his look with black socks.

The couple appeared to be in high spirits as they let their hair down and enjoyed the festivities with a group of friends.

Earlier this week, Heidi struggled to fasten her plunging dirndl as she prepared to celebrate Oktoberfest in Munich over the weekend.

The model took to Instagram to share a video of herself attempting to squeeze her curves into the busty pink ensemble, with the stunner seen fiddling with the fastenings beneath her bust.

However, she clearly achieved her goal as later Heidi was snapped swigging a stein of beer while partying at the Braeurosl beer tent in Munich.

Heidi looked fabulous in her traditional folk dress which featured a full pink floral patterned skirt, a pink bodice and a white, lace-trimmed.

She teamed her dirndl with a floral headband and a white heart-shaped handbag.

Heidi's Oktoberfest antics comes days after she celebrated HeidiFest in her German homeland with her family right by her side.

The model donned traditional Bavarian attire as she arrived at the event in Munich with her younger husband Tom, daughter Leni, 22, son Henry Samuel, 21, and mother Erna Klum.

She looked stunning in a vibrant, low-cut yellow floral dirndl – a traditional dress that features a lace-up bodice and wide apron skirt. Heidi styled the look with a matching flower wreath and yellow heels.

Her husband also opted for a traditional look, wearing distressed olive-brown lederhosen with a light blue shirt and vest over it. The Tokio Hotel guitarist completed the look with knee-high grey wool socks.

The pair, who married in 2019, were seen sharing a passionate smooch at the event.

HeidiFest, which kicks off the traditional annual Oktoberfest celebrations, is a star-studded party held at the iconic Hofbrauhaus beer hall.

Her mum Erna opted for a vivid red dress with a matching wreath and boots.

Her son Henry matched Tom in a similar traditional look but opted to keep his socks rolled down.

Meanwhile, Leni wowed in a baby blue dress paired with a blue apron and UGG slippers.

The Victoria's Secret Angel shares Leni with Italian business leader Flavio Briatore, and Henry with ex-husband Seal. 

She also has son Johan, 19, and daughter Lou, 16, with Seal. The British musician officially adopted Leni in 2009.

Heidi and Seal were married from 2005 until 2014.
