Gwyneth Paltrow Says She Was Sewn Into Side-Slit Dress for Oscars 2026

Oscars 2026 Best Dressed Celebrities: Nicole Kidman, Zoe Saldaña & More

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Oscars look was hanging on by a thread—literally.

As it turns out, the Marty Supreme star is sew dedicated to fashion that she was willing to be sewn into her Arman Privé gown for the 2026 Academy Awards.

During a FaceTime call with her and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple Martin while getting ready for the award show —as seen in a behind-the-scenes video posted to Goop’s YouTube account March 17—Gwyneth tells her, “I’m getting, like, sewn into my dress kind of thing, so I can’t—I won’t be able to pee for the whole time I’m there.”

While Gwyneth described the dress as “simple” and “pretty” to her daughter, the white gown was deceptively sultry: While from the front it looked like a standard strapless dress, when the 53-year-old turned to the side she revealed large slits on either side of her body, showing off the sparkling sheer panels and tulle pants she wore underneath.

The combination made for a show-stopping moment, and when a member of her team told Gwyneth she looked “amazing,” the Goop founder herself replied, “I don’t even know what to say.”

As for how the rest of her look came together, her skin was prepped for makeup by, of course, products from Goop and her hair was styled by Owen Gould to look “chic and simple.”

As for the thick diamond necklace and earrings capping off her look? They were provided by Tiffany & Co., arriving to her hotel room in the signature blue boxes.

The rest of Gwyneth's rituals before heading to the Oscars—where Marty Supreme was nominated for nine awards—included her taking pictures in her glamorous hotel room, filming Q&A content and making sure her team was adequately fed with bento boxes, the leftovers of which she encouraged her staff to bring home.

As for the rest of her conversation with Apple, the 21-year-old said she was “really excited to see the results of everything,” noting the slate of impressive film nominations.

And when Gwyneth asked which of the nominees was her favorite, Apple replied, “Obviously Marty Supreme.”
