Paul Farrelly is a Contributing Writer for Screen Rant’s Gaming section and the founder of GeekGasm.org, a site dedicated to celebrating all things gaming, from triple A blockbusters to weird and wonderful indie hits. Based in Louth, Ireland, Paul has spent years writing about games, pop culture, and tech, turning his lifelong love of gaming into a career that lets him talk (probably too much) about what makes this industry so endlessly fascinating.
He’s previously written and collaborated with several entertainment outlets, including LADbible, gaining a wide perspective on how gaming fits into today’s pop culture conversation. His work blends genuine enthusiasm with thoughtful analysis, exploring how design, storytelling, and community have made gaming one of the most creative mediums around.
When he’s not glued to a controller or keyboard, Paul’s usually spinning vinyl, plotting his next horror marathon, or debating which Resident Evil entry really reigns supreme.
In the time it's taken between the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 and the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6, a heck of a lot has happened. We've had no less than 9 mainline Assassin's Creed games, 13 Call of Duty games, 11 Fifa games before the rebranding and even 13 Persona games if you count the spin-offs. If you think that perhaps the publisher behind GTA 6 would like to get more games released soon, then you'd be correct.
Take-Two Interactive is planning an expansive release of new titles over the next three years. Thanks to an internal fiscal report, we've learned that Take-two Interactive and Rockstar Games are planning to release no less than 29 new games for our entertainment. Their three-year plan for 2027 to 2029 shows no signs of slowing down even after they release one of the most anticipated games of all time.
Take-Two Interactive has acquired many gaming studios over the last few years, which affords them the luxury of creating new IPs but also sequels and remakes for existing gaming franchises. The predictable annual releases for their sports games (WWE 2K, PGA Tour 2K, NBA 2K) aside, there is a lot from their fiscal report to get excited about. 3 games will come from brand-new IPs while 15 will come from existing IPs.
Excitement for Grand Theft Auto 6 aside, games like the upcoming Judas deserve your attention. From the brilliant creative mind of Ken Levine, this is basically the spiritual successor to the Bioshock franchise and could be considered Take-Two's most ambitious game to date. Add to that, their free-to-play 3rd person shooter called Project Ethos, and it looks like Take-Two have no intention of slowing down after November 19.
It's also very interesting to see in the report that the definition for the 15 existing IPs is as follows: sequels/prequels, complete remakes, and major platform extensions. The potential feels endless, and many fans would give anything to see a Red Dead Redemption remake or, dare I even say it, perhaps remakes of Bully or GTA 6? We can but dare to dream until we hear something more official.
While we all hold our breath for the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, it's good to know that big publishers like Take-Two Interactive have plans long after the game's release. As for us gamers, with new DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2 currently available, at least we have a nice distraction while we wait for November 19 to finally arrive. And when the credits finally roll, new AAA titles will keep on coming, thanks in part to Take-Two Interactive.
