The website and Telegram channel for Cyberleek, the main source for this recent wave of Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks, have gone offline.
On the morning of August 22, Eurogamer spotted that Cyberleek's website had gone offline. Meanwhile, its Telegram channel now displays a message that states, "This channel is unavailable due to copyright infringement." Although Rockstar Games has not commented on this new development yet, it seems their legal efforts to take the leakers down are working.
Cyberleek started leaking new footage of GTA 6 on Aug. 18. The footage has not revealed anything mind-blowing or spoiler-heavy about the game, but has confirmed the return of the 6-star Wanted system, shown the game's large map, and more. Bloomberg reported that developers at Rockstar are incredibly frustrated by this latest series of leaks, as the studio required all developers to return to the office as a security measure following the infamous 2024 leaks, only for GTA 6 to leak again.
Since the leaks emerged, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, subpoenaed both Microsoft and Discord to help identify who was leaking GTA 6 through Cyberleek, which seems to have some cryptocurrency-fueled ulterior motives of its own. Take-Two has seemingly gotten the information needed to take the Cyberleek website and Telegram channel down. Some more footage has trickled out recently, but that may be it for the leaks, as the main sources of them are now gone.
Even after the leaks, GTA 6 is still on track for a release on Nov. 19. We'll get our first official look at gameplay during a special Netflix showcase on Aug. 27.
