GTA 6 Last Minute Delay Fears Are Increasingly Concerning

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI has been marked out by the lack of concrete information that we have been dealing with up to this point. There have obviously been two delays so far (that we know about), but it really did feel like the current date would be the actual date we would finally get to play the game.

The most recent earnings call reiterated it, and pre-orders have now been open for a little while, but there is a growing feel that something's not quite right again. There hasn't been a major marketing push thus far, and the third trailer remains as illusive as ever, which isn't exactly filling the community with confidence at the moment.

Now, a new source has come to light, and they don't have good news for those who were hoping to play it this year.

Could GTA 6 Really Get Delayed Again?

Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York sat down with Indy100 (via PlayerOne) to discuss the upcoming release of GTA VI, and he confirmed he "would not be shocked" if the game were to be delayed once again.

"Personally, after being there and working on GTA V, I don't currently work there, so I can't give a confidence based off that, but based on my previous experience, they could delay it again," said York. "Straight up, they could delay it again. They can. They can do whatever they want and people will wait right now, it doesn't matter. If they need to do what they need to do, they'll do it.

"So if November comes around, and they're thinking 'this final mission we have is still not looking very good and there are still a few bugs in this final mission', they'll push it six more months if they have to. I would not be shocked at all. I don't think it would hurt them or anything."

It's obviously not super encouraging news, without it obviously being confirmation of another delay. The lack of noise around the game from the developer just three months out from launch is the big worry at this point, though hopefully that will change over the course of the next few days.

Where Is GTA 6's Third Trailer?

So where exactly is the third trailer? Well, there's every chance it's ready to go behind the scenes, but Rockstar know that the game needs to be essentially complete before they drop it, because the last thing fans would want is another delay after the trailer drops. That could be what's holding everything back, but all we can really do is sit tight and hope GTA VI is still on course for November.
