Grounded 2 has just received a massive new update called The Toxic Tangle, which is adding a new Garden biome, new enemies, and a rideable ladybug with a gun mounted on it. Obviously!
The Toxic Tangle update is the first major update to the game since its Early Access release back in 2025. The Garden, overgrown with vines and towering structures, is a messy new addition that players are now able to explore. It's also littered with new enemies and resources to collect, so you'll need to keep an eye out as you venture between the pumpkins.
Grounded 2 will also let people ride a new Ladybug Buddy, which should help you navigate through this new landscape. It's packing a mounted water cannon on its back which you can use to fend off all manner of creepy crawlies, and is itself a tough creature to take down.
The official blog post announcing the update has also teased the return of both the Masked Stranger and the Snake Colossus, which you'll have to track down with an updated mutation system allowing you to further customise your ability to build or fight in Grounded 2.
The team at Obsidian also stated it's working on Playgrounds mode, a fan-favourite from the original game.
If you've not played Grounded 2, you can read Eurogamer's review of its Early Access release. In it, Robert Purchase wrote: "The ant-sized thrills of Grounded return in a sequel which lays exciting foundations for the future. There's work to do but, already, an exciting adventure to have.
