Starting her acting career at a young age, Grace Van Patten already has an impressive resume of movies and TV shows. At eight years old, she kicked off her career in a big way, appearing in two episodes of one of the best TV shows of all time, The Sopranos, which her father directed. After that, she landed roles in episodes of Law and Order: SVU and Boardwalk Empire in the early 2010s.
Her first feature film was the Netflix movie, Tramps. She then went on to get roles in a number of movies and shows, including, Under the Silver Lake, and The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected). She also starred in season 1 of Nine Perfect Strangers and Tell Me Lies. Outside of film and television, Grace Van Patten has also appeared in two stage plays, showing her versatility as an actor.

Released in 2019, Good Posture is about a young woman who moves in with her father's famous and reclusive author friend. Focusing on the characters and their dynamics with each other, Good Posture is a rather quiet story, feeling like it features real people living their actual lives. It's a strong indie film that features a handful of truly great performances.
Grace Van Patten is sensational in Good Posture, playing the main character Lilian. The character is messy and lost in life, with Van Patten effortlessly showing Lilian's layers as a person. Over the course of her career, the young actress has continuously shown that she thrives in roles like the one in Good Posture, and she knocks it out of the park. She is easily the standout among the entire cast.

Starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, Maniac is a mind-bending dramedy about two people who connect during a pharmaceutical trial in a retro-futuristic New York. Released on Netflix, Maniac is a fantastic miniseries, with great performances from the entire cast, especially Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. Surrealism can be tricky to get right, but when Maniac fully embraces the offbeat quirks in its story, it really shines.
Grace Van Patten doesn't have a huge role in Maniac, playing Olivia Meadows, a former college crush of Jonah Hill's Owen. Despite having limited screen time in the series, Olivia is actually quite an important character, giving Owen even more depth, and he actually ends up writing her a letter at the end of the series, once the trials end. Like most of her work, Van Patten is great in her role.

Tramps is an underrated romantic comedy, featuring two characters who find themselves falling in love while carrying out a shady deal. The movie is incredibly endearing, featuring two leads with great chemistry. Like all the great romantic comedies, Tramps is breezy and easy to watch, with likable characters and a really fun story. It's a hidden gem in Netflix's catalog.
Tramps was one of the first feature films that Grace Van Patten appeared in, playing one of the leads, a young woman named Ellie. The character is paid by Danny to be his getaway driver after being tasked to deliver a mysterious suitcase for his brother in jail. Van Patten is truly great in Tramps, stepping right into a leading role well, showing how talented she is and her potential as an indie film star.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has consistently been on TV since 1999, for a running total of 26 seasons, sitting fourth of all time for total episode count in a scripted series. Focusing on the NYPD's Special Victims Unit, the series mainly featured sexually based crimes as well as women and children. It's a gripping television procedural that has endured for several decades, with no indication that it will slow down any time soon.
Like a lot of up-and-coming actors, Grace Van Patten appeared in an episode of the show in 2013. She plays Jodie Lanier, a 15-year-old girl who sexted with Alex Muñoz, the mayoral front-runner, who eventually sends her money to keep their relationship a secret. Like most episodes of SVU, it is a terrible scenario and Van Patten plays her character perfectly, showing her talent early on.

Under the Silver Lake was actually quite divisive upon its release, but it is actually an underrated gem, featuring a stellar performance from Andrew Garfield. Diving into the surreal, Under the Silver Lake revolves around a young man stumbling upon a dangerous conspiracy after looking for his missing neighbor. It's a strange film that gets increasingly bizarre throughout the course of its runtime, but that is what makes it so much fun to watch.
Under the Silver Lake has grown a cult following since its release, and there are many who are convinced that there are hidden clues still sprinkled throughout the film waiting to be discovered.
Grace Van Patten plays Balloon Girl in the movie, a mysterious woman who leads Andrew Garfield's character to a dance. Her character is an interesting one, as she seems wild and free, but it feels like there is a sadness to her despite that, and Van Patten channels that energy perfectly. In a film full of "out there" characters, she fits right in.

Running for five seasons, Boardwalk Empire is a gem within HBO's catalog, with a fantastic lead performance by Steve Buscemi. Set in Atlantic City in the 1920s, the series explores a politician who plays both sides, getting in with the gangsters during the Prohibition era. It's an incredible setting and Boardwalk Empire takes full advantage of it, crafting a series that is engaging for its entire run, and gorgeous to look at.
The series was one of the earliest roles in Grace Van Patten's career, so she only appeared in one episode as Ruth Lindsay, in a flashback to 1884. Despite that, she fits right into the world of Boardwalk Empire, and getting another acting credit in an incredible series only helped propel her career forward, where she was able to get more substantial roles.

Tell Me Lies is a fairly new Hulu original series, based on the novel of the same name by author Carola Lovering. The series follows a relationship between Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco, chronicling eight years of their lives after meeting in college. In a similar vein to Normal People, Tell Me Lies is a fantastic series that deeply explores two flawed people and the flawed relationship they find themselves in.
Lucy Albright isn't the most likable character at times and playing a character like that is tough, but Grace Van Patten knocks it out of the park.
Tell Me Lies was the first true starring role of Grace Van Patten as she plays the main character, Lucy Albright. She proved up to the task as her performance in the show's first two seasons is impressive, giving Lucy a ton of depth, as she navigates a complicated relationship. Lucy Albright isn't the most likable person at times and playing a character like that is tough, but Van Patten knocks it out of the park.
2 The Meyerowitz Stories (New And Selected) (2017)

Directed by Noah Baumbach, The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) tells the story of several siblings who are trying to live under the shadow of their father. Like most Baumbach movies, it features a strong cast of well-defined characters that feel like real people, speaking naturally and just going on living their lives. Adam Sandler is fantastic in the film, showing that whenever he takes on a less-comedic role, he is a true force of an actor.
Grace Van Patten plays Eliza Meyerowitz, daughter of Sandler's character, who makes provocative videos of herself. She is fantastic in the movie, showing that she has what it takes to be a significant actor in the indie scene, fitting right into the naturalistic world of Baumbach's movie. Even when The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) features some iconic actors, Grace Van Patten has one of the best performances in it.
