At the time of writing, Hogwarts Legacy is free to download as part of the PlayStation Plus Extra membership tier on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. With the game usually costing around $59.99, this is quite a substantial saving, and, as always, players are able to keep and play the game whenever they want, as long as they maintain an active membership. However, according to PlayStation Lifestyle, Hogwarts Legacy may be the biggest title to get the chop when April rolls around.
Alongside titles such as Blue Prince, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage - Tape 2, EA Sports PGA Tour, The Crew 2, Raji: An Ancient Epic, Lego Ninjago Movie Videogame, and Lego Marvel’s Avengers, Hogwarts Legacy may also be leaving the service. This is based on the knowledge that many games are removed from the PS Plus library after a year. However, this has not been confirmed, and the Harry Potter-inspired RPG has not yet been added to the 'Last Chance to Play' section. Nevertheless, it is better to be safe than sorry, and if you have ever expressed an interest in Hogwarts Legacy, now is the time to follow through on it before the hit RPG heads back to full price.

Despite the controversy surrounding its development and subsequent launch, Hogwarts Legacy went on to become one of the best-selling games of 2023. Inspired by the Harry Potter universe, the RPG by Avalanche Software was praised for its diverse characters, stunning visuals, and nods to the book and movie series. However, it was also criticised for lack of ambition when it came to the expansive open-world, and since its release, it has received next to nothing when it comes to content updates. That being said, with Avalanche Software now working on a sequel, it remains to be seen if all of these criticisms will be taken onboard. For now, those who have not yet experienced Hogwarts Legacy for themselves can do so now thanks to its free PS Plus download, which is available now, perhaps for a limited time.
