2025 Golden Globes: Ariana Grande Jokes She's "a Potato" Without These People
There’s a special group of people who are popular to Ariana Grande.
At the 2025 Golden Globes Jan. 5, the Wicked star—who has nabbed her first nomination at this year’s ceremony for Best Supporting Actress alongside Emilia Perez’s Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez, The Brutalist’s Felicity Jones, The Substance’s Margaret Qualley, and Conclave’s Isabella Rossellini—gave a heartfelt shoutout to the trio who made her red carpet ready.
“I have an amazing glam team,” she exclusively told Live From E!: Golden Globes' Zuri Hall on the red carpet outside the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. “I have to shout out [makeup artist] Michael Anthony and Gabor [Kerekes], who did my hair in the movie as well, and Mimi Cuttrell, my stylist.”
"I have to shout out my team, because without them, I'm a potato,” she continued. “It really doesn't happen without them. So, I'm very grateful for my team. We had a lot of laughter this morning, and we had a lot of fun.”
And while the “eternal sunshine” singer is certainly a popular attendee at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards bash, her Wicked costars, including her other half, Elphaba Cynthia Erivo and her boyfriend of one year Ethan Slater, have proven to be just as integral to the evening’s festivities—which will be run by host Nikki Glaser.

After all, Cynthia is up for an award of her own—earning a Best Actress in a Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy nomination alongside Anora’s Mikey Madison, Nightb---h’s Amy Adams, The Challengers’ Zendaya, as well as The Substance’s Demi Moore and Emilia Perez’s Karla Sofía Gascón.
Meanwhile, Wicked itself earned two additional nominations for Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy and Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. As for how the stars feel about the film defying gravity? Ariana, for her part, can’t keep her excitement down.
“I am floored and honored to be recognized by members of the Golden Globes,” she gushed in an Instagram Story shortly after Golden Globes nominations were released last month. “It's impossible to find my words, but I am simply, so deeply grateful for this acknowledgement.”
As for Cynthia, who has previously earned Golden Globes nods for her performances in Harriet and Genius: Aretha, she felt purely and unadulteratedly blessed.
“Now that my feet are hovering off the ground, I cannot even come close to properly expressing what this moment means to me,” Cynthia said in a statement. “Not just because of this individual nomination but because I get to watch as this project and my Wicked family is celebrated too.”
The 37-year-old also couldn’t help but effuse over her character.
“Being a part of this project has been a dream come true,” she continued, “and playing Elphaba, a woman who speaks to everyone who has ever felt like they don’t belong and lets them know they have the power to defy gravity, has been the honor of a lifetime.”

In addition to Glinda and Elphaba being dream roles for Ariana and Cynthia—they’ve also been holding space for each other, as well as for the former Tony-winning cast Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth.
“It's a very supportive witch coven, I have to say,” Ariana gushed to E! News during the film’s Los Angeles premiere in November. “Every single one of our sister witches has been very, very, very supportive. We just feel so honored to be a part of this legacy and to be the ones in the movie. It's such a sweet thing to share with them.”
Here’s to hoping gravity doesn’t bring this cast down as the evening continues. In the meantime, keep reading for every star dancing through life at the 2025 Golden Globes.
