While everyone's been waiting for an update on the next installment of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, Ufotable, the studio behind the sensational franchise has quietly been working on its next big hit, the Genshin Impact anime.

While updates have been scarce since the project was first announced back in 2022, the game's developers have continued to assure fans that the Genshin anime adaptation is still most definitely on the way. And now, nearly four years later, Genshin Impact's anime has finally released a new trailer.

Ufotable Drops New Genshin Anime Teaser Spotlighting Aether and Lumine

Ufotable's official YouTube channel recently shared a promotional video highlighting the studio's upcoming projects, such as Witch on the Holy Night, Touken Ranbu, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2, and of course, the Genshin Impact anime. The promotional video notably included a new look at the Genshin anime with a short teaser featuring Aether and Lumine.

Although the new teaser only consists of the two siblings reaching out to each other against a black backdrop, it does give fans a good glimpse at the new character designs for the anime, which are quite different from those featured in the concept trailer released back in September 2022.

As for when fans can expect Genshin Impact's anime to release, unfortunately, there have been no new updates on that end just yet. The Genshin anime was listed under "Future Projects" in Ufotable's promotional video as opposed to the "2026 Projects" section, which means there likely won't be any concrete information on the anime's release until 2027 or later.

Genshin Impact's Anime May Follow the Game's Finale

While it is rather disappointing that the Genshin anime won't be releasing in 2026, the confirmation that it is still on the way and progressing smoothly is quite a relief. In fact, having the anime pushed to 2027 or later could actually be a genius move as, by then, the game could very well be in the final stages of its story.

With Snezhnaya's release on the horizon, it already seems like the story has its endgame in mind and may actively be straightening out the nitty-gritties of its finale. This means by the end of 2026, Ufotable could be left with a near-complete story to work with, which would make things a lot easier in terms of restructuring Genshin's story for the anime.

New Genshin Impact Update Sees Unexpected Return Of Fan-Favorite Character

A fan-favorite character from Genshin Impact will seemingly make an unexpected return in the upcoming Version 6.4 update, according to a leak.

It's still unclear how the anime will be approaching Genshin Impact's story, which is told partly through the Archon Quests, partly through World Quests and even the lore hidden in items and books. But surely, having a complete bigger picture will help in this regard.

All that said, there's no doubt that Ufotable is currently sitting on what could be the studio's next big sensation after Demon Slayer. In fact, considering Genshin Impact's popularity and its massive fan base, the Genshin anime could end up being even bigger than Demon Slayer, and it makes sense that Ufotable may be taking its time to make sure the adaptation is as perfect as can be.
