New data has been released that reveal which Star Wars project is Gen Z's favorite out of the entire space opera franchise.
It's Star Wars Day, and Nielsen decided to mark the occasion by releasing a study that breaks down how the fandom has consumed Star Wars content over the past year, including which shows were watched the most by each generation in the first quarter of 2026.
For Gen Z, who are currently aged 14-29, the most-streamed Star Wars title on Disney+ was Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Baby Boomers and Gen Alpha (who are on opposite ends of the generation spectrum) streamed The Mandalorian the most, while Gen X and Millennials tuned in to Andor more than any other title.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars also made the list of the Top 10 most-streamed titles from 2025's Star Wars Day, landing at No. 10.
Ahead of The Clone Wars in the Top 10 are Andor, Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld.
Animation content in general made up 16.8% of all Star Wars content viewed in 2025.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars takes place during the timeline of the prequel films as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi fight back against Count Dooku. Matt Lanter voices the main character, Anakin, with James Arnold Taylor, Ashley Eckstein, Corey Burton, Dee Bradley Baker and Tom Kane rounding out the rest of the cast.
The George Lucas-created series premiered in 2008 when Gen Z was 0-11 years old.
After airing for five seasons on Cartoon Network, The Clone Wars was canceled, with Netflix reviving the series for a 13-episode season in 2014. Disney+ eventually made a seventh season in 2020 to give the show a proper ending.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which was well-received by critics and viewers alike, launched a new era of animated Star Wars projects that saw the debut of shows like Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Star Wars Tales and the recently released Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord.
Some of the characters that made their debut in The Clone Wars went on to appear on other shows, animated and live-action alike.
Ahsoka Tano, for example, was also featured in Star Wars Rebels before getting the live-action treatment in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and her own spinoff Ahsoka. Ashley Eckstein voiced the character in the animated projects, while Rosario Dawson played Ahsoka in the live-action shows.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars may have ended in 2020, but the series remains a fan-favorite, with Gen Z keeping its popularity alive on Disney+, and Lucasfilm deep into post-production on Ahsoka season 2.
