Gangs of London” Season 4 has gone into production with star Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù joined by a host of new and familiar faces, Variety can confirm.

The Sky and AMC+ original series, which is produced by VICE Studios, has also gotten a new lead writer and exec producer in the form of “Who is Erin Carter?” creator Jack Lothian while Jean Luc Herbulot (“Zero”) joins as lead director.

As well as Dìrísù, who plays Elliot, Michelle Fairley, Narges Rashidi and Andrew Koji also return for the London-based show alongside Brian Vernel, Orli Shuka, T’Nia Miller, Valene Kane and Pippa Bennett-Warner, with the cast having to navigate “shifting alliances and new threats reshape London’s criminal underworld,” according to the logline for the season.

They will be joined by Tamara Lawrance (“Small Axe”) as Jo Malik, Luna Fujimoto (“Sniper: G.R.I.T.-Global Response & Intelligence Team”) as Hanaka, Eugene Nomura (“Tokyo Vice”) as Takeshi Kimura and Melika Foroutan (“The Empress”) as Zerin.

“As the looming threat of legalisation and government crackdowns tightens its grip on London’s criminal underworld, the gangs are forced into an increasingly volatile fight for survival,” reads the synopsis. “Exiled from London, Elliot Carter is on a bloodied path to redemption that draws him back to the capital, where shifting alliances and rising tensions threaten to upend the balance of power. When Zeek Kimura reemerges, backed by a ruthless syndicate from abroad, the stakes escalate and the future of everyone involved, from the Wallaces to Luan, Lale and Elliot himself, is thrown into question.”

As well as Lothian, Season 3 writer Kevin Rundle returns for Season 4 alongside Jerome Bucchan-Nelson (“1899”), Meg Salter (“The Rig”) and Abi Hynes. Herbulot, whose film “Saloum” premiered in the Midnight Madness strand at TIFF, is lead director with Lynsey Miller (“Surface”) and Eran Creevy (“The Gentlemen”) also directing.

Executive producers are Hugh Warren and Claire Marshall for VICE Studios, alongside Thomas Benski, Jamie Hall and Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù. Adrian Sturges exec produces for Sky. James Levison is series producer and Saba Kia is associate producer.

The show’s creators, Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery, are also exec producers.

“Gangs of London” Season 4 will air on Sky and its streaming platform Now in the U.K. and Ireland and on AMC+ in the U.S. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution rep the series internationally.
