Frozen 3 directors tease a wedding in the highly anticipated 2027 Disney sequel

Frozen 3 co-directors Jennifer Lee and Trent Correy have teased a wedding in the highly anticipated upcoming animated film.

It was previously speculated that fans would see characters Anna and Kristoff tie the knot in the forthcoming Disney installment, and now the directors appear to have confirmed just that.

It came as the duo toured the World of Frozen at Disneyland Paris' Disney Adventure World during a Disney+ Insider special, per Just Jared.

While approaching sisters Anna and Elsa at a meet and greet, Lee said, 'We hear there are big wedding plans happening.'

'Oh, yes! I’m so excited,' replied the woman portraying Queen Anna.

Correy went on to ask if she will be doing the wedding planning, to which Anna teased, 'Olaf said he likes to be in charge of all the party planning in Arendelle, and he told us that he and Kristoff had been planning a really big surprise for the Snowflower Festival.'

Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa) and Josh Gad (Olaf) are set to return for the third movie. 

Disney announced the official release date for Frozen 3 nearly two years ago in August 2024.

The movie will hit theaters on November 24, 2027 during the Thanksgiving holiday.

The update came months after then-Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed in November 2023 that a fourth installment of the animated franchise is also in the works.

Lee – who wrote and directed Frozen and Frozen 2 – previously revealed during a D23 event that the third sequel will premiere in 2027, with Disney later confirming the exact date.

Plot details for the next movie remain under wraps, but the songwriters from the first two films, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are returning, according to a 2024 report from Variety.

The third movie was initially announced by Iger in February 2023, and both Anderson-Lopez and Lopez previously shared their surprise at the news.

'They told us, the day of, and a little bit about what they're thinking,' the pair shared with Collider in March 2023.

'It got us very excited. Now, we have to let the wheels of Hollywood do what they do, but we were very excited with their ideas.'

During a November 2023 appearance on Good Morning America, Iger teased, 'Well, I'll give you a little surprise. Frozen 3 is in the works and there might be a Frozen 4 in the works, too. 

'But, I don't have much to say about those films right now. But Jenn Lee who created Frozen, the original Frozen and Frozen 2, is hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories.'

The original Frozen premiered in 2013 and quickly became a box office hit.

The animated film received praise from critics as well as a variety of award nominations, winning Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature at the 86th Academy Awards. 

Frozen 2 was released six years later in 2019 and also became a favorite among moviegoers.
