In an interview with Tatiana Hullender for From season 4, Perrineau was asked about the characters having better communication this season and what contributed to this change. Since the actor is not part of the writers' room, he does not know for sure, but believes it is a natural progression as the characters get more information and as the Township claims more lives. Check out Perrineau's comments below:
Those are decisions that John [Griffin] makes in the writing room, so I don't know, but I think – I could be wrong – I think it's a natural progression. The audience keeps screaming like, "Why don't you just talk to each other?" And it's really true.
But I think it's a natural progression of what starts to happen is everybody gets a new piece and another piece and then we start to lose people. So you kind of crash into having to talk to other people. I think that that's what naturally happens, but that's what's making it more fun. It's like, "Wait, they're really putting the pieces together," and then we as the audience get to in real time put the pieces together like, "Oh my God, Jade was Christopher? What does he remember about that?" So it's really fun.
Perrineau references how Tabitha and Jade sharing their discoveries with each other led to their game-changing discovery in the From season 3 finale, realizing that she was Miranda (Sarah Booth), he was Christopher (Thom Payne), and they have been coming to the Township in different reincarnated forms over and over again for years. This revelation was only possible after Tabitha and Jade put together everything they learned, with Jim Matthews (Eion Bailey) helping them as well.
What Tabitha and Jade do not know heading into season 4 is that this knowledge came at the cost of the mysterious Man in Yellow (Douglas E. Hughes) killing Jim. Despite this horrific consequence, Perrineau's comments indicate that this will not stop the characters from communicating more, with their exchange of important information even increasing instead of decreasing after Jim's death.
This natural progression can also be attributed to From ending with season 5. Since this is the penultimate season before the show's conclusion, and with many mysteries still needing to be solved, it makes sense that the characters start to keep fewer secrets and make more progress. They can feel that time is running out for them in the story, but time is also running out in how much longer the series' run will be.
An important decision that Tabitha and Jade have to make is who they are going to share their realizations with. Tabitha knowing that she is Miranda has significant implications for Victor Kavanaugh (Scott McCord) and Henry Kavanaugh (Robert Joy), as Miranda was Victor's mother and Henry's wife. They believe she is completely dead and do not know that Tabitha is a reincarnated version of her, which is a revelation that presents a whole new challenge. Tabitha sharing with her children Julie Matthews (Hannah Cheramy) and Ethan Matthews (Simon Webster) comes with its own challenges too.
Given these circumstances, Victor, Henry, Julie, and Ethan may not be the optimal first people to share this information with, but Tabitha and Jade do need to share it with someone in order to make further headway in better understanding the Township and how to escape it. As more discoveries are communicated in From, vital truths will be revealed for the characters and for the audience, but these answers may also lead to more devastating consequences akin to Jim's death.
