From Jacob Elordi to Hudson Williams, All of Hollywood’s Leading Men Are Accessorizing With Dainty Hoops

1 week ago 7

It seems Hollywood’s leading men have found the definitive it-accessory of 2026: hoops. Whether worn as a pair or in a single ear, silver or gold, bejeweled or classic, the earring style is inescapable on red carpets, award shows and media appearances, having become a staple addition to the industry’s most stylish lobes.

Need proof? Look no further than the recent “Heated Rivalry” press tour; Hudson Williams wore a glitzy pair of emerald bezel hoops from Fiametta on “The Tonight Show,” while Connor Storrie donned a pair of Chanel coco crush huggies at the designer’s Chateau Marmont event in Los Angeles. The breakout co-stars also wore the style at the 2025 Golden Globes, where Michael B. Jordan and Colman Domingo were spotted sporting their own variations. Oscar nominee Jacob Elordi is known to sport a hoop or two (the “Frankenstein” actor accepted his Critics Choice award earlier this month while wearing a delicate pair), as is Tom Blyth, who opted for a single silver hoop at the Los Angeles premiere of “People We Meet on Vacation.”

While the style may be experiencing a renaissance, men sporting earrings isn’t a new fad; “Men have been doing this for a long, long time,” “Hamnet” costume designer Malgosia Turzanska tells Variety. That’s one of the reasons eagle-eyed viewers might’ve spotted a single silver hoop on the left ear of Paul Mescal‘s William Shakespeare in the film; paintings of the playwright often depict him wearing a similar earring, but whether he actually wore one in real life is debated among historians. In fact, director Chloe Zhao revealed that there was an entire “casting process” for Mescal’s Shakesperean hoop. “I know people are going to pick it up,” she quipped during an interview ahead of the film’s release.

It’s worth noting, too, that before filming, Mescal was often seen with a hoop in his right ear, both on and off the red carpet. “It’s very subtle…  it’s not an elaborate piece of jewelry. It’s just a little wink to the past,” says Turzanska. “It signifies his artistic flair, his imagination. There’s something to it.”

Anastasia Walker, the stylist behind Williams’ recent looks, confirms the hoop comeback, pointing to a “huge resurgence” of ’90s fashion in recent years. “That naturally translates into jewelry,” she says. Plus, Walker notes, men are increasingly “stepping outside of the box” with their fashion choices. “There is something kind of bad boy and free about it,” she says. “Hoops have this feeling of being more casual [and] cooler.”

If you’re looking to give hoops a try, Walker suggests opting for something huggie adjacent, or a style that sits close to the lobe. “We want it to be complimentary, not fully distracting,” she says. Though that shouldn’t dissuade you from going bold. Recently, Walker has found herself reaching for thicker hoops. “Have fun with it. Like, hello, we want to see some detail! Why not?”
