Netflix has renewed its scripted comedy series Free Bert for a second season, starring comedian Bert Kreischer.

The Season 1 logline: Kreischer—shirtless comedian, party legend, perpetual wildcard—finds himself in uncharted territory when his daughters are accepted to an elite Beverly Hills private school. When his unbridled antics turn his family into outcasts, he decides to “put on a shirt” and stifle his true nature to better fit in.

In addition to Kreischer, the show also stars Arden Myrin, Ava Ryan, and Lilou Lang.

We’re incredibly grateful to Netflix for believing in this show and giving us the chance to continue the freeing of Bert,” shared showrunners/writers/directors Jarrad Paul and Andy Mogel in a joint statement.

Season 1 premiered on January 22 and debuted in the Global Top 10, according to the streamer. The series will continue to film in Atlanta, GA, joining other Netflix productions that have filmed on location, including Stranger Things, His & Hers, the upcoming ’Tis So Sweet, All the Sinners Bleed, Sweet Magnolias Season 5, and A Different World

Free Bert is part of Netflix’s comedy slate, which also includes second seasons of Running Point and The Four Seasons; Dan Levy’s new comedy thriller series, Big Mistakes; the return of Nobody Wants This with Season 3; new standup specials from Taylor Tomlinson and Derrick Stroup; and the return of Netflix is a Joke Fest in May.

Up next, Kreischer will appear at Netflix is a Joke Festival 2026, performing the “Bert and Shaq’s Crowd Work Show” at The Comedy Store on May 8 and hosting “2 Bears 5K” with Tom Segura and Jelly Roll at The Rose Bowl on May 9.

Free Bert was created by Kreischer, Paul and Mogel. The series is executive produced by Kreischer, LeeAnn Kreischer, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Elise Henderson for Counterpart Studios, Judi Marmel.
