  • Amazfit may have just leaked its own upcoming Active Max smartwatch
  • The product listing contained new details not seen before
  • It also included photos of the device in action

Amazfit absolutely blew us away with its Active 2 smartwatch, which we gave a full five stars and marked as one of the best cheap smartwatches money can buy in our review. Now, the manufacturer is thought to be working on a more premium offering in the form of the Amazfit Active Max, and a fresh leak has just shed more light on the upcoming device.

Funnily enough, the new information doesn’t originate with some anonymous leaker or clued-up analyst – no, it seems to come directly from Amazfit itself. That helps lend it significant weight and suggests that the details contained within could well be on the money.

It all came about when Amazfit accidentally published a draft listing for the Active Max smartwatch on its website – a post that has since been removed. There, details and images suggested that the Active Max will support Zepp Pay contactless payments and will have a 576 mAh battery, which should keep it topped up for 25 days at a time. You’ll be able to track a range of health and fitness metrics, including sleep quality, heart rate and SpO2 levels, and it will support the BioCharge Energy Monitoring feature, too.

It’s not the first time we’ve got wind of the Amazfit Active Max. Just yesterday, leaker Roland Quandt shared a few intriguing details linked to the product, including that it will supposedly come with a 1.5-inch OLED display, Bluetooth 5.3 compatibility, and waterproofing down to a depth of 50 meters. The draft listing on Amazfit’s website seems to confirm some of those details, while providing a few new ones of its own.

No release date yet

The Amazfit Active 2 offered an incredible amount for its $99 / £99 price tag, and while the Active Max is expected to be a higher-end device, rumors indicate that it will stay on the affordable side of things with an anticipated price of €169.90 in Europe, which could equate to around $169 / £130 / AU$250.

An asking price in that range means it significantly undercuts the $249 Apple Watch SE 3, which is currently one of the best affordable smartwatches around. The two devices won’t be exactly like-for-like, but anyone in the market for a new smartwatch who doesn’t want to break the bank could be tempted by Amazfit’s Active Max when it eventually gets a release date.

That, however, is something that was not revealed in the draft product listing, and it remains to be seen when Amazfit plans to officially unveil and launch the watch. When it does, there will likely be a fair amount of interest in what it can offer.
