Fire Up ‘Fallout: The Ghoul Log’ and Irradiate Your Holidays

Gimmicky Yule Log videos are a favorite marketing tactic—and this Fallout version isn’t even the first “Ghoul Log” to step up, with horror streamer Shudder annually releasing a same-named version (featuring a jack-o’-lantern) for Halloween. But this might be the most macabre version we’ve yet to see, appropriately fitting with the Prime Video series’ post-apocalyptic setting. With season two of Fallout arriving December 17, the timing is perfect for cozy nights lit by… a human arm?

Yep, as the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) reveals at the start of this 90-minute ambient video, that’s not a log tossed on the fire. “This ain’t no Whoville, but it’ll do,” he says, before checking his vital supplies. “I got enough vials to last me the 12 days of Christmas.”

Then, the merry gentleman himself, with Dogmeat looking on, lets us in on a little secret. “See this? It ain’t no log. This is a human arm. Specifically, a fat man’s. It burns nice, doesn’t it?”

He keeps a few spare arms on standby throughout the year, you see, “dry aging … just because it’s so nice during the winter. Stay armed, stay warm, that’s what I always say.”

There are no seasons and no Santa Claus in Fallout‘s decimated world, but there’s still the soothing storytelling of Mr. New Vegas (voiced by Wayne Newton in the game) and his retro radio hits, which take a festive turn as the musical backdrop while the Ghoul’s arm-fueled fireplace crackles peacefully.

The Wasteland beckons starting December 17 on Prime Video—and a reminder, this season will be a weekly drop rather than a binge watch. Happy radioactive holidays, and be sure to turn your head away from the fire!
