The third and final installment in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has gotten some notable teases this month already, and all signs are pointing toward us quickly approaching a release date for the (so far) untitled FF7 Remake Part 3. Of course, official teases are nothing new. We've gotten several this year already, including an update on FF7 Remake Part 3's release back in February. Still, this might be the best sign yet that we're getting close.

According to Hamaguchi, the studio is "very excited about how the game is currently progressing." However, the co-director didn't stop there, stating that he'd "completed over 40 full playthroughs" of FF7 Remake Part 3 already. Considering both previous games ran into the 25- and 30-hour marks (not counting side content), then that's a pretty impressive feat. And playing through the game that many times implies that it's close to being ready now.

FF7 Rebirth had lots of content, but even if Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 doesn't have quite as many mini-games, getting through 40 playthroughs really adds up. The key here, too, is that Hamaguchi stated they were "full" playthroughs, rather than just portions of the main story. It seems like the story is complete, and now the team is just working on refining things.

The next question, of course, is what all this means for an impending release date announcement. While rumors of an April State of Play proved inaccurate, a PlayStation broadcast could be arriving at any time. Typically, PlayStation has aired a bigger livestream around the same time as Summer Game Fest, which kicks off in June.

A debut trailer for FF7 Remake Part 3 around this time could make sense, although it's also possible this gets saved for even later in the year and premieres at The Game Awards 2026 in December. Considering this fall is already stacked with big releases like Marvel's Wolverine, Fable, and Grand Theft Auto 6, an early 2027 release date certainly feels plausible. Both previous games in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy came out in the earlier months of the year, so it'd certainly follow that trend.
