During The Game Awards 2024, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be making its way to PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in January 2025. While the title initially launched on PlayStation 5 back in February 2024, the developers have confirmed that PC players will soon be able to enjoy the action adventure in all of its glory.

When Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth first launched, the talk of the town was the revelation that it would be exclusive to the PlayStation 5 console, as this was a bit disappointing to longtime fans of the franchise. Now, we know that those who prefer to play titles on PC will finally be able to dive in, and there are a few interesting details about the PC launch as well.

When Is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Coming To PC?

The Release Is Much Sooner Than Most Thought

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is set to release on January 23, 2025, according to the developers, but there are a few details that caught fans' eye almost immediately. The download size is the first point of contention, as it is a whopping 155 GB. More so, 16 GB of RAM will also be needed to run the iconic title, regardless of what graphical settings are chosen. Here is a quick breakdown of the minimum system requirements to play Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth according to Steam:

OS:

Windows® 10 64-bit

Processor:

AMD Ryzen™ 5 1400 / Intel® Core™ i3-8100

Memory:

16 GB RAM

Graphics:

AMD Radeon™ RX 6600 (RX 6600 or above required) / Intel® Arc™ A580 / NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2060 (RTX series required)

DirectX:

Storage:

155 GB available space

Additional Notes:

1080P / 30FPS (Graphics Quality Preset “Low”), SSD Required. Graphics Cards with Shader Model 6.6 support and OS with DirectX 12 Ultimate support required. 12GB VRAM or above recommended to play on 4k resolution.

Fans of the franchise do seem excited, as a recent Reddit post from Xanek garnered quite a bit of attention. The most exciting thing, according to the comments, is the fact that Square Enix was able to get the title ported to PC in less than a year from the initial PlayStation 5 launch. More so, pre-orders are now live on Steam, which can save fans 30% if they choose to splurge on the title before its release.

What Fans Can Expect From Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Fans Can Get The Most Bang For Their Buck With A Plethora Of Settings

In a detailed post from Square Enix, the devs share everything fans can expect from the title upon its PC launch. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will feature a plethora of graphics settings to customize each player's experience throughout the game. There will be three default settings to choose from, and each of these presets has been optimized to give players with different setups the best quality they can manage.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth May Have Exceeded Your Expectations, But It Didn't Exceed Square Enix's

Despite being one of 2024's most hyped releases, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has reportedly failed to meet the expectations of developer Square Enix.

One of the key features is the ability to connect a DualSense controller to the player's PC to utilize the same controls from the PlayStation 5. Keyboard and mouse are also supported, of course, as well as the ability to customize keys to fit their specific playstyle. As of right now, Square Enix is trying to optimize the title for the Steam Deck, but no information has been released as to whether or not that will be ready by the January 2025 release date. Regardless, fans of the franchise are thrilled to see Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth make its way to PC in such a short period of time, and cannot wait to hack and slash their way through the title.
