And Twitch streamers too, but they're less important
Broadly speaking accessibility features still have a long way to go in most games, however, one that has been cropping up more and more are phobia-sensitive options. It cannot be understated how many don't like spiders! So the increase in such features is welcome as someone who perhaps doesn't have a phobia but would still like the option to not look at the eight-legged devils. And according to March's Slay the Spire 2 newsletter, sorry, neowsletter, a phobia accessibility mode is on the way.
There's no specific date attached to this right now, with co-creator Casey Yano explaining the team's approach to a roadmap in the Steam post thusly: "While we know people are curious about what major content updates are coming down the pike, right now we won’t be giving a specific timeline or roadmap for high-level content aside from what we’ve already confirmed (alternate acts for acts 2 & 3, more cards, events, and other content, etc). All of your feedback has been greatly appreciated and has helped us fix some softlocks and other issues already. Balancing the game will be a constant journey, so we appreciate your patience as we analyze all of the data as well as everyone’s feedback."
The phobia accessibility mode does sound like it'll be on the way next, however, alongside a small suite of other bits and pieces. For one, a revamp of the roguelike's badge and scoring system is coming, alongside a friends-only leaderboard filter. There'll be quite simply "more art and VFX," as well as balance adjustment, Steam Workshop support, some multiplayer quality of life features, and for the few of you this will apply to, Twitch plugin integration.
Mostly the usual bits you'd expect from a game in early access, but surely welcome to many I'll bet. This all comes after the game's most recent update, which ensured that you can't have HP that goes above one billion. Not sure I'll bother with any runs now, I only like games that let me become truly unkillable.
