After a divisive cancellation rocked the fanbase, FBI: Most Wanted's cast had a chance to weigh in on the future of their characters.

FBI: Most Wanted was a popular spin-off of Law & Order creator Dick Wolf's FBI. Most Wanted was praised for its lovable cast. However, changes to the story and the exit of popular characters led to heartbreak on screen and off. The decision to cancel the popular series was met with disappointment.

Much was left unfinished in the series. Fans wanted more of the love story between FBI newbie, Nina Chase (Shantel VanSanten), and her beau, Special Agent Stuart Scola (John Boyd), or "Scolina" as the fans affectionately call them.

It's not the first time ScreenRant has had a chance to sit down with the cast of FBI: Most Wanted. Back in 2024, ScreenRant's Rachel Foertsch got a chance to speak with VanSanten and Boyd about their relationship on screen.

Now, with the series in the rearview and uncertainty ahead, ScreenRant's Tatiana Hullender got a chance to catch up with them about FBI season 8's Scola and Nina wedding episode, crossover opportunities, and what the future may hold.

ScreenRant: Now that you're married and CIA is also coming, is there any chance we're going to get to see more of Nina now? Either on the main FBI show or in the new spin-off.

Shantel VanSanten: We've been saying we're going to pitch an undercover couple episode to them. They're right next door to FBI, and I know that they've had some of the other FBI characters on. Are you hoping to go, John?

John Boyd: Yeah, absolutely. I'll pull double duty whenever they need. Of course, I would love to go. I hear CIA's wonderful.

Shantel VanSanten: Yeah, I love that we'll be watching right after we watch the wedding episode. Tuning into the CIA premiere will be awesome.

While the FBI spin-off, CIA, struggled to get its footing, with changing showrunners and exits made by cast members and producers before the show's release, it is set to debut on CBS on February 23, 2026. It stars Lucifer star, Tom Ellis, as Colin Glass, a CIA case officer tapped to be part of a joint CIA-FBI task force.

CIA has already confirmed crossover talent with FBI, including alums Jeremy Sisto, Missy Peregrym, and Alana de la Garza. All will be reprising their roles in the show's New York field office.

With VanSanten and Boyd as fan favorites, it would be wise for the CIA team to tap them in for an episode or two. CIA likely has its own docket of new characters, storylines, and bad guys, but a check in on the couple and their son Douglas would give some viewers closure.

FBI: Most Wanted's 8th and final season still had decent viewer scores, averaging between 4–5 million viewers for each of the season's 22 episodes. The finale, titled "The Circle Game," ended with Team Leader Remy Scott (Dylan McDermott), retiring from the FBI to open a restaurant. While the finale tied up some loose ends, many viewers found it premature.

What's the future for the FBI franchise?

Despite the cancellations of FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International, the main FBI series still has its place on CBS. CIA premiere February 23, 2026.
