No Fast & Furious sequel has been as intrinsically linked to its predecessor as Fast 11. As the sure-fire blockbuster continues to face delays, the latest news comes in the form of an uncertain update from Jordana Brewster. Despite being one of the main ongoing stars of the franchise, Brewster made it abundantly clear in a recent interview with Screen Rant that she is out of the loop when it comes to updates on Fast 11. "I don't have a timeline," said Brewster, which seems to contradict earlier reports that the movie would begin filming in early 2025. Considering her important place in the franchise, it stands to reason that Brewster would be one of the first to know.

Though the movie was long scheduled for April 2025, the 2023 Hollywood strikes have officially delayed Fast 11 until 2026. Director Louis Leterrier broke the news to fans in May 2024, announcing that the movie begins filming in September 2024. However, that date has since passed without the movie beginning work, and more recent updates have been somewhat uncertain. In November 2024, Jordana Brewster revealed that she didn't have a timeline for shooting, and it's unclear exactly when the movie will start filming.
The 2023 Hollywood strikes saw the members of the WGA writer's guild and SAG-AFTRA actor's unions go on strike for better pay and fair working conditions.

Universal hasn’t announced an official Fast 11 cast list, but it seems inevitable for Diesel to return as the series’ lead, Dom Toretto. Anyone from Dom’s family who wasn't killed off in Fast X will be expected to return in Fast 11. Other main cast members, like Jason Statham as villain-turned-ally Deckard Shaw, Helen Mirren as Shaw’s mother Magdalene “Queenie” Ellmanson-Shaw, and Gal Gadot as Gisele, could also reprise their roles in Fast X Part 2.

Dwayne Johnson’s appearance as Luke Hobbs in Fast X’s post-credits scene will likely lead to a larger supporting role in Fast 11. The post-credit scene also teased the possible return of Eva Mendes as Monica Fuentes. Fast X newcomers like Jason Momoa as the villainous Dante Reyes, Brie Larson as rogue agent Tess, and Daniela Melchior as Brazilian street racer Isabel could reappear in Fast 11 as it follows on from Fast X’s ending.

Story Details For The Next Fast & Furious Movie
A Follow-Up To Fast X's Cliffhanger Ending
While the specifics of the Fast 11 story are being kept under wraps for the time being, the cast and crew have teased plot elements for the next Fast & Furious movie. As the second part of the overarching Fast X narrative, Fast X Part 2 will follow on from the cliffhanger ending of Fast X. Fast 11 will also provide a true farewell to Brian O’Conner, the franchise’s co-lead played by the late Paul Walker. Diesel said that ending Brian’s story is integral to ending the Fast & Furious series: “I couldn’t imagine this saga ending without truly saying goodbye to Brian.”
There is also the question of theFast X cliffhanger teased Hobbs' return to the franchise. While Dwayne Johnson seemed to suggest there will be a spinoff movie for Hobbs, it also seems that he will be brought back for the sequel now that he and Diesel have mended their relationship. It is possible Hobbs could play a pivotal role in saving the day once again.

Dom Toretto's Adventure Ends In Fast 11
Though speculation about Fast 12 was sparked by Vin Diesel, the Dom Toretto actor has since confirmed that Fast 11 will be the final entry in the main Fast & Furious series. While this finality gives the movies a chance to close out Dom's storyline as well as Brian's, it isn't the end of the Fast universe. Additional spinoffs are in the works that will continue the legacy of "The Family" far beyond the conclusion seen in Fast 11.
Fast X: Part 2 is the final movie in the Fast Saga. It reunites Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto with the rest of the cast for one last ride. However, the franchise is open for spinoff films like Hobbs & Shaw afterward.
