Seth MacFarlane Reveals What Fans Can Expect In New 'Ted' Series
What the deuce? The answer is more Stewie Griffin.
Indeed, the beloved Family Guy character is getting his own spinoff, titled Stewie, set to premiere during the 2027–2028 season, according to a press release from Fox. And on top of that, the network has already confirmed a season two on the horizon. As for what fans can expect from the eternal toddler’s new venture?
“After getting the boot from his old preschool, Stewie is forced to enroll in a new one that’s not exactly top-of-the-line,” reads a synopsis from the network. “It’s attended by a handful of kids he doesn’t know, and a 75 year-old class turtle with a half-cocked theory on just about every subject. Stewie’s miserable, the other kids are miserable, and even the turtle is miserable…until Stewie begins rolling out his trusty array of devices to take them anywhere in space and time, turning every boring day at school into an insane and surreal adventure.”
Of course, Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane—who voices Stewie—is on board for the spinoff as its star and executive producer.
“I’d like to thank Fox for this incredible opportunity,” Seth, 52, said in a statement, before jokingly adding, “and I’m excited to start pretending I’m collaborating closely with them on the show.”

Family Guy has become a cultural phenomenon since its premiere in 1999. The series—which follows the adventures of the Griffin family, including parents Brian and Lois, kids Meg, Chris and Stewie, and their dog Brian—has been on the air for 24 seasons and a whopping 450 episodes.
In addition to Seth, the adult cartoon—which is one of the longest-running scripted animated series in TV history—features the voices of Alex Borstein, Mila Kunis and Seth Green, among many others.

Although Stewie is preparing to take center stage in his new series, Seth has no plans to say goodbye to the Griffins anytime soon.
"There was a time when I said, 'Hey, let’s wrap it up while we’re going strong,'" the TV icon explained to the Los Angeles Times in 2024. "At this point, I don’t know, I don’t see a good reason to stop. People still love it. It makes people happy, and I don’t know that there’s any reason to stop at this point unless people get sick of it. Unless the numbers show that people just are, 'Eh, we don’t care about Family Guy anymore.' But that hasn’t happened yet."
In fact, it’s been quite the opposite—and news of Stewie only proves that. But until the Family Guy spinoff is ready to make its premiere on Fox and stream the next day on Hulu and Disney+, fans will have to patiently wait for its arrival.
In the meantime, see what other shows will be premiering on television in 2026…
