A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation."

An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account.

Miami Vice '85 just keeps adding more colorful characters to 1980s Miami. The Joseph Kosinski-helmed adaptation of the classic 1980s TV series already stars Austin Butler and Michael B. Jordan as its leads, and it's been buffeting its supporting cast in recent weeks. Now, it's added one of the big and small screen's most memorable presences, and, unsurprisingly to those who've followed his career, he'll be playing a villain.

Butler and Jordan will play, respectively, Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, a pair of mismatched vice cops who've been assigned to clean up Miami's underworld, even as cocaine floods the city. Crockett is a loose cannon who lives on a houseboat with an alligator, and Tubbs is a hot-tempered ex-NYPD cop. They'll be facing off against a deadly cartel boss (John Leguizamo). The film will also star Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Whitney Peak (Hocus Pocus 2), Camila Morrone (Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen), Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick), Edi Gathegi (Superman), and Andrew Schulz (Tires).

As reported by Deadline, Walton Goggins will star in Miami Vice '85. He'll reportedly play a henchman to Leguizamo's cartel boss; the two previously starred together in the action comedy American Ultra. Goggins is a late addition to the cast, as he's greatly in demand these days; however, once a scheduling conflict was resolved with Fallout, in which Goggins stars as the undead gunslinger known as the Ghoul, he was on board the film, which is speeding like a go-fast boat to a November production start and a release date on May 19, 2028.

REVEAL MY NEMESIS →

The Case File Is Complete Your Nemesis Is…

Four criminal masterminds. One of them was always going to be yours. Here is who comes for you, why they picked you out of everyone available, and what they want from the encounter.

Hannibal Lecter

Your nemesis does not want to beat you. He wants to know you completely, and he is patient enough to wait for it. The frightening part is how good the conversation is.

  • Lecter is the most dangerous kind of opponent: the one who finds you interesting. He never raises his voice, because he has never needed to.
  • You keep a great deal to yourself and you are careful about what you show. That reserve is exactly the door he would knock on.
  • The films understood something other thrillers missed. The horror is not the violence. It is being perfectly understood by the wrong person.
  • He would be unfailingly polite about all of it. That is the worst part.

The Joker

Your nemesis is not after money, territory or revenge. He is after a demonstration, and you are the person he has chosen to prove his point on.

  • The Joker only picks opponents who believe in something. Your decency is not a defence against him. It is the entire reason he showed up.
  • He has no plan you can predict and nothing you can take away, which removes every tool you would normally reach for.
  • His whole argument is that you are one bad day away from being him, and you would spend the rest of your life proving him wrong.
  • He would call it a magic trick. You would call it the worst night of your life.

Moriarty

Your nemesis respects you, which sounds flattering until you work out what it means. He chose you because nobody else was worth his time.

  • Moriarty is the original criminal mastermind, the template every later one borrows from: a mind the equal of the hero's, pointed the wrong way.
  • You enjoy being the cleverest person in the room. He is counting on exactly that, and he has already built the room.
  • This is the rare nemesis who would be genuinely disappointed if you lost badly. He needs the game to be worth playing.
  • It ends the way these things always end. Two people, one problem, and only one way down.

Anton Chigurh

Your nemesis has no personal interest in you whatsoever, and that is precisely what makes him unsurvivable. You are not a rival. You are a stop on the way.

  • Chigurh does not negotiate, gloat or explain. He arrives, he asks one question, and the answer was decided long before you opened your mouth.
  • You trust yourself to handle things. He is the one problem in the world that has no interest in how capable you are.
  • No Country for Old Men rewrote the screen villain by removing the thing audiences quietly rely on: the sense that talking might work.
  • Call it. He will wait.

↻ RETAKE THE QUIZ

Where Can Walton Goggins Be Seen Next?

In addition to the third season of the Prime Video hit Fallout, which is now in production, Goggins can next be heard in Hexed, a new CG animated Disney feature that hits theaters this November; he'll voice Beef Roger Crumbchuck, a three-eyed cat. Next year, he'll star with Chloë Grace Moretz in the action comedy Mister as a father-daughter duo of hired killers. He will also star alongside Amber Midthunder in the action thriller Painter, from John Wick creator Derek Kolstad.

Miami Vice '85 will be released in theaters on May 19, 2028. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
