Ewan is Deputy Editor for ScreenRant's gaming section. He still quite hasn’t gotten out of his mid 00’s emo phase, and knows more about The Legend of Zelda and Doctor Who than is probably healthy.

Ewan oversees the content operation of ScreenRant's gaming output, working with a talented team of writers and editors to cover everything from the latest GTA 6 news to the indie games you need on your radar.

Former Editor of GAMINGbible, Ewan also has words at Kotaku, Den of Geek, NME, and UNILAD. He's appeared on various podcasts, including VGC's and BBC's Let's Talk About Tech.

As I'm sure you're probably aware, Fallout fans found themselves a little disappointed recently when it turned out the mysterious countdown clock that was set to go live after the finale of the TV series turned out not to be teasing a new game or remaster.

Fortunately, Fallout fans have just been treated to an official video game update. The bad news? It's not the Fallout 3 remaster many of us were hoping for.

Fallout 4 Officially Returns This

War never changes, but it gets re-released

A suit of power armor from Fallout 4

Originally announced last year, Fallout 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, which is quite possibly the least exciting possible re-release Fallout fans could have gotten. The game will come with all six DLCs and over 150 Creation Club items included, but will not have mod support to the extent of the PlayStation or Xbox versions of the game.

This new edition of Fallout 4 will officially come to Nintendo Switch 2 on February 24 as announced during the latest Nintendo Direct. It'll also cost $59.99. For comparison, Fallout 4 currently costs $16.99 on Steam, but is quite often on sale for as low as $4.99.

Here's the full synopsis for a game I'm sure you already know well:

"It’s been ten years since players first stepped out of Vault 111 and into the post-nuclear world. To mark the occasion, Bethesda Game Studios is thrilled to announce Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition. This is the ultimate celebration of a beloved classic, bringing together the complete Fallout 4 experience. This special release includes the base game and the six official add-ons: Automatron, Far Harbor, Nuka-World, and the Workshop expansions. Whether you’re building settlements, battling robots, or exploring the mysteries of the Commonwealth, every adventure is here. But that’s not all! The Anniversary Edition also bundles over 150 pieces of Creation Club content, including fan favorites and previously unreleased items designed to enhance your journey. From new weapons and different Dogmeat breeds like a husky or a Dalmatian, to gameplay tweaks and quest expansions, there’s something for every Vault Dweller."

Fallout 3 Fans, Don't Lose Hope

Keep the faith

While that Fallout 3 remaster has yet to materialize, we can at least take comfort in the fact leaked documents suggest it is coming eventually... we just don't know when. Playing Fallout 4 on the go is a fairly exciting prospect at least, although I did kind of already do that on Steam Deck, a platform where I could absolutely nuts with mods.

Okay, so maybe this isn't the best possible Fallout news we could have gotten, but a new release is a new release.
