Example reveals girlfriend Daisy Cox has given birth to their 'absolutely perfect' first child together four weeks early on New Year's Day

British musician Example surprised social media followers by confirming the birth of his third child on Wednesday - his first with girlfriend Daisy Cox.

The star, whose real name is Elliot Gleave, began dating art advisor Cox in 2023, just five months after confirming his separation from former wife Erin McNaught, with whom she shares two children. 

Taking to Instagram on New Years Day, Example, 40, revealed the couple have since welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, in a series of Instagram posts.

Sharing the news with followers, the musician - who relocated to Australia from his native London more than a decade ago - confirmed Daisy had gone into labour a month ahead of her estimated late January to early February due date. 

He wrote: 'Lucas Winter Cox Gleave. Aka Lukey Baby… aka Gorge Lucas. 01.01.25.

'Arrived 4 weeks ahead of schedule and he’s absolutely perfect. Best NYD present ever. And no one gonna forget his birthday ever. Mummy and baby doing great.' 

Example confirmed his relationship with Daisy, who bears a striking resemblance to his ex-wife, in March 2023. 

Five months earlier, the DJ revealed his nine year marriage to Erin - an Australian actress - was over, with the former couple focused on raising their two sons, Evander, ten, and Ennio, 7. 

Addressing the separation in a joint statement, they wrote: 'At the start of the UK summer we decided to separate. We have had an amazing 11 years together, but just a few too many adventures.

'Obviously we spent a lot of time behind the scenes trying to figure things out, but we came to the realisation that perhaps our time as a couple had just come to a natural end.

'So we have decided to go our separate ways whilst there is still an abundance of love and respect for one another.

'We have been Co-parenting happily and effectively now for almost half a year and our boys are surrounded with love.'

The pair admitted that Example's full schedule as a touring artist had resulted in Erin flying to London with their children so he wouldn't spend months on the road without seeing them - despite having already ended their marriage.  

They added: 'We had an amazing family holiday, and look forward to more in the future. We have had incredible support from our closest friends and family, who are proud of how are handling this separation.

'We have turned off commenting to protect ourselves, our children and closest friends and family. Please do not feel the need to text or DM us whoever you are.

'We would appreciate the space right now and don't want to be distracted by conversations over texts, social media or FaceTime when we need to devote so much time our own well-being and most importantly, that of our children.

'If you see us out and about together it's still the same old Elliot & Erin.

'Though we spend a lot of our time apart we still enjoy time together climbing, jogging, cinema, chasing kids around the park or getting coffee. Expect to see us out and about together with our children often.

'This is as amicable as it gets. Nobody is blaming anyone in all this. We are very happy that this is the right decision and hope that others can respect this too. Everything is as it should be.'

In 2020, Example credited Erin with 'saving his life' after pushing himself to the extreme with drink and drugs.

He said: 'Erin saved me from an early death. I was partying too much back in the day.'

The musician wrote a track about his wife for his 2020 comeback album, Some Nights Last For Days, detailing the emotional moment he played Erin the song in a 2020 interview with The Sun.

'I went to the studio with Johnny McDaid, who's a good friend of mine and is in Snow Patrol. Then I came home and played it to Erin and her parents, who were visiting. We were hugging and crying because it was so personal.

In the song, Eye To Eye, he calls Erin his 'saviour'.

He explained of his dangerous lifestyle before meeting his wife: 'You're burning the candle at both ends, doing 120 festivals a year, 100 flights a year and you're partying four or five nights a week.

'I was lying to my ex and cheating on her. I wasn't close to my mum or dad or my sister any more, so Erin coming into my life helped me mend all those things.'

Daisy confirmed she was five months pregnant in September. 

'We are so excited about our news and can't wait to meet the little bubba,' Daisy -who has relocated to Australia to be with Example - told Daily Mail Australia at the time. 

'We are enjoying some relaxing time now after Elliot's busy summer of festivals - before all the madness and fun starts!'

In a photo shoot with Daily Mail Australia, Daisy debuted her baby bump as she poses on the beach in a white bikini alongside her doting partner.

She cradled her growing stomach as Example lovingly stood behind her with his arms wrapped around her.

Their pregnancy news came four months after Erin announced she was expecting her first child with her Australian music producer boyfriend, Stasi 'Stace Cadet' Kotaras.
