The Evil Dead franchise is making horror history with two new movies arriving in back-to-back years for the first time ever. Sam Raimi confirmed at CinemaCon Tuesday that Evil Dead Wrath is officially set for a 2027 theatrical release, continuing the horror series' recent resurgence.
Introducing the film at the conference, Raimi said the film promises to be "the year's most terrifying experience."
Before that, though, fans will return to the world of the Necronomicon with Evil Dead Burn, directed by Sébastien Vaniček, which is scheduled to hit theaters on July 24, 2026. With that release date approaching, a trailer is expected soon.
Evil Dead Wrath, meanwhile, will be written and directed by Francis Galluppi, best known for The Last Stop in Yuma County. While plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, Raimi has already praised Galluppi's approach to storytelling in a statement to Deadline:
Francis Galluppi is a storyteller who knows when to keep us waiting in simmering tension and when to hit us with explosive violence. He is a director that shows uncommon control in his feature debut.
The upcoming film will feature a new cast led by Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Zach Gilford, Josh Helman, Ella Newton, Elizabeth Cullen, and Ella Oliphant. While story specifics haven't been revealed, Evil Dead Wrath is expected to follow Evil Dead's recent trend of standalone entries, similar to Evil Dead Rise, with a new group of characters encountering the horrors of the Book of the Dead.
