Every Vegeta Transformation in Dragon Ball History, Ranked From Weakest to Strongest

3 weeks ago 13

Vegeta has always been one of the strongest characters in Dragon Ball, and these exceptional forms are a big reason why. Dragon Ball is synonymous with some of the most exciting transformations in anime, and Vegeta has more than his fair share.

Vegeta's transformations include everything from Dragon Ball Z to Dragon Ball GT, DAIMA, and Super. Baby's possession of Vegeta is a separate category, as Baby Vegeta is a Baby transformation, not a Vegeta transformation.

Great Ape

Dragon Ball Great Ape Vegeta Fights Goku

Vegeta's Great Ape transformation is his first in the franchise, and it's devastating. He was already holding his own against Goku and a few of Goku's friends, and this transformation really turned the tide in Vegeta's favor.

The Great Ape form makes Vegeta, and all Saiyans with tails, incredibly large. It increases his power exponentially and makes him a threat Goku couldn't handle alone. If it wasn't for Yajirobe's quick thinking and even quicker blade work, Great Ape Vegeta might have wiped the Z Fighters out before he could join them.

Super Saiyan

 The Return of Cooler.

Vegeta's Super Saiyan transformation was somehow both destined and never guaranteed. The Prince of all Saiyans was always meant to achieve the legendary form, but he wanted it too badly, and it was his deep, blinding desire that got in his way.

Every Main Dragon Ball Hero Ranked From Weakest To Strongest

Dragon Ball is one of the most storied franchises in anime and manga, and it's all because of the amazing heroes that comprise the series.

After giving up on the form, he was finally able to transform. Vegeta's Super Saiyan transformation couldn't have come at a better time, as Goku needed his help to stop Android 19. Vegeta is the third Saiyan in the series to use the Super Saiyan transformation, behind Goku and Future Trunks, or the second without counting the future timeline.

Super Vegeta

Vegeta's Final Flash charging against Perfect Cell in Dragon Ball Z

Super Vegeta is a variant of the original Super Saiyan form that Vegeta only uses during the Cell Saga. After training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with his son, Vegeta is able to take the Super Saiyan form to another level.

This Super Saiyan Second Grade form sees Vegeta with a massive increase in muscle, larger, spikier hair, and even more aggression than usual. This form was able to challenge Cell fairly well, but it didn't give Vegeta what he needed to truly beat the villain. Once Vegeta unlocked new forms, this form was never seen again.

Super Saiyan 2

Super Saiyan 2 is one of the most iconic forms in Dragon Ball, but not because of Vegeta. Teen Gohan is the most iconic user of this form, as the son of Goku used it to take down Cell once and for all during the Cell Games.

Vegeta himself wasn't able to use this form until well after the Cell Games. There's a seven-year time skip between the ending of the Cell Saga and the beginning of the Buu Saga, and somewhere during that time, Vegeta unlocked Super Saiyan 2. It's a major improvement over Super Saiyan 1, but Vegeta hasn't really used this form much either.

Majin Vegeta

Majin Vegeta is one of the most iconic transformations in anime. Vegeta has one of the best character arcs in the art form, and this transformation signifies his peak. Vegeta had been playing the role of a hero for some time at this point, but internally, he never truly felt morally good.

When Babidi gave him a chance to become stronger, he took it. Majin Vegeta is stronger than Super Saiyan 2 Goku, and that's saying something. He was one of the strongest characters in the franchise during this time period, and he was almost strong enough to destroy Majin Buu once and for all.

Super Saiyan 3

Adult Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta

Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta is a transformation every fan of Dragon Ball was itching to see. Dragon Ball DAIMA is a breath of fresh air in the Dragon Ball canon, and the inclusion of this amazing form is a big reason why. Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta's reveal was unbelievable, and it only got better from there.

Super Saiyan 3 is often referred to as the worst Super Saiyan form in Dragon Ball, and it's hard to argue against. The form comes with a huge stamina drain that doesn't really make the increase in power worth it, but Vegeta only needed to use this form for a small amount of time to defeat his enemies in Dragon Ball DAIMA.

Super Saiyan 2 Rage

Vegeta Prince of Rage Mode

Super Saiyan 2 Rage is a very interesting and controversial form in Dragon Ball. It doesn't make a lot of sense that Super Saiyan 2 Rage, also called Super Saiyan 2 Enraged, would be stronger than Super Saiyan 3, but that's just another reason why Super Saiyan 3 is one of the worst forms in Dragon Ball.

Vegeta uses his Enraged form against Beerus during Bulma's birthday party after the God of Destruction slaps Vegeta's wife away like a fly. Beerus notes that Vegeta's Rage form is more fun to fight against than Super Saiyan 3 Goku, and Master Roshi also notes that, in this form, Vegeta is finally stronger than Goku.

Super Saiyan 4

Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta

Super Saiyan 4 is another one of the most controversial forms in Dragon Ball. It's one of the few good parts of Dragon Ball GT, and technically, not a canon form for Vegeta. While Goku's Super Saiyan 4 was able to make an appearance in Dragon Ball DAIMA, Vegeta's version of the form may never come back to the series again.

Vegeta used Bulma's Blutz Wave Generator to transform into a Golden Great Ape, and once he was able to control himself and the form, Vegeta synthesized the power into the much faster Super Saiyan 4 form. This form is much different from the other Super Saiyan forms in that Vegeta no longer has golden hair, has fur coating his body, and red lines surrounding his eyes.

Super Saiyan God

 Broly

Super Saiyan God is a form nobody saw coming. When Dragon Ball finally came back through Dragon Ball Super, divinity was not what most people thought was coming. Goku was the first Saiyan to achieve this form, but Vegeta isn't one to let his biggest rival have all the fun.

Vegeta doesn't use the Super Saiyan God form much in Dragon Ball. The most he uses it is during the Dragon Ball Super: Broly film, where Vegeta uses it sparingly before transforming into the Super Saiyan Blue form. This form makes Vegeta look younger, slimmer, and much faster, as it's a massive improvement on the Super Saiyan forms that came before it.

Super Saiyan Blue

 Broly

Super Saiyan Blue is a much more commonly used form than its predecessor. Technically, Super Saiyan Blue is the Super Saiyan God form taken to a Super Saiyan level, or Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (SSGSS). It's a mouthful of a transformation, and luckily, it's now referred to as Super Saiyan Blue.

Goku and Vegeta achieved the Super Saiyan Blue form around the same time. It's an incredibly powerful form that put them in a new league in terms of power, and while they're still not strong enough to take down a God of Destruction or an Angel, this form is a sign that they're headed in the right direction.
