Summer has officially begun, and July 2026 is bringing some of the biggest movies of the year along with smaller productions that are equally interesting and exciting. 2026 has been a big year for theatrical releases, with movies from different genres becoming critical and/or box office successes. Some of 2026's biggest hits so far are the sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary, the biopic Michael, the animated adventure The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and the horror movies Obsession and Backrooms.
June 2026 saw the release of some of the most anticipated movies of the year, with which it successfully kicked off the summer. Among June’s biggest theatrical releases are the sixth installment in the Scary Movie franchise, the fantasy adventure Masters of the Universe, Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day, Pixar’s Toy Story 5, the final Jackass movie, and the DC Universe’s Supergirl. Now, although July 2026 is slowing down on big releases, it will bring some of this year’s biggest productions to theaters.
July 2026, then, is bringing a new Minions movie with a fun twist, the latest entry in the Evil Dead franchise, another live-action remake by Disney, Christopher Nolan’s latest project, a new Nicolas Winding Refn movie, and the highly-anticipated return of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, among other stories.
Minions & Monsters
Minions & Monsters Will Be Released on July 1, 2026
The Despicable Me franchise keeps expanding, and as part of its Minions branch comes Minions & Monsters. Directed by Pierre Coffin, Minions & Monsters follows Minions James and Henry, who end up working in the film industry back in the 1920s. When they are unable to adapt to sound film, James and Henry set out to make their own movie about Minions and monsters – but, for that, they use a spellbook to summon real, monstrous creatures, unleashing chaos.
Young Washington
Young Washington Will Be Released on July 3, 2026
Young Washington is a historical war drama movie directed by Jon Erwin. As the title says, Young Washington goes back in time to introduce the audience to a young George Washington (William Franklyn-Miller). The movie focuses on his experiences during the French and Indian War, where a misstep leads to a global conflict. Also starring in Young Washington are Ben Kingsley as Robert Dinwiddie, Andy Serkis as Edward Braddock, Mary-Louise Parker as Mary Ball Washington, and Kelsey Grammer as Thomas Fairfax.
Evil Dead Burn
Evil Dead Burn Will Be Released on July 10, 2026
The latest entry in the Evil Dead franchise is Evil Dead Burn, directed by Sébastien Vaniček and written by Florent Bernard and Vaniček. Evil Dead Burn serves as a standalone sequel to 2023’s Evil Dead Rise, and as such, it brings new characters and a new story. Evil Dead Burn, then, follows Alice (Souhelua Yacoub), whose husband passed away. Alice gets together with her in-laws at their secluded cabin, but this family reunion turns into hell on Earth when they are taken by the evil dead one by one, becoming Deadites.

Moana
Moana Will Be Released on July 10, 2026
Disney’s trend of live-action remakes of its most popular animated movies continues, and the latest movie to get this treatment is Moana. Directed by Thomas Kail, Moana follows the title character (played by Catherine Laga’aia), the daughter of village chief Tui. Moana, who has always had a deep bond with the ocean, answers its call to go on a quest to restore the heart of Te Fiti and save her community.
Like its animated version, Moana is a musical, with both songs from the original movie and new ones. Also starring in Moana are Dwayne Johnson (reprising his role as Maui), Rena Owen, John Tui, Frankie Adams, and Jemaine Clement.
The Odyssey

Based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic of the same name, The Odyssey is an epic fantasy action movie that centers on Odysseus (Matt Damon). Following the Trojan War, Odysseus embarks on a long journey home, but it won’t be an easy return.
Along the way, Odysseus comes across mythical creatures like sirens, the Cyclops Polyphemus (Bill Irwin), and the nymph Calypso (Charlize Theron). The Odyssey has a star-studded cast, and some of Damon’s co-stars are Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Jon Bernthal, among others.
Motor City
Motor City Will Be Released on July 24, 2026
Motor City is an action thriller movie directed by Potsy Ponciroli. Set in the 1970s, Motor City stars Alan Ritchson as John Miller, a working-class man who becomes the target of local gangster Reynolds (Ben Foster), who frames him for a crime he didn’t commit. Years later, Miller is released from prison, and now hardened by this experience and with no tolerance left, he goes on a quest for revenge against Reynolds, who also took his girlfriend, Sophia (Shailene Woodley). Also starring in Motor City are Pablo Schreiber, Ben McKenzie, Lionel Boyce, and Amar Chadha-Patel.
Her Private Hell
Her Private Hell Will Be Released on July 24, 2026
Ten years after The Neon Demon, Nicolas Winding Refn is back with a new project. Titled Her Private Hell, it’s a sci-fi dystopian thriller written by Refn and Esti Giordani. Set in an extravagant neon city, Her Private Hell is the story of Elle (Sophie Thatcher), a troubled young woman who takes Hunter (Kristine Froseth), a young influencer, under her wing. At the same time, Elle is searching for her father, and she crosses paths with Private K (Charles Melton), an American GI desperately looking for his daughter.
Her Private Hell had its premiere at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, and rounding up its cast are Havana Rose Liu, Diego Calva, Dougray Scott, Shioli Kutsuna, Aoi Yamada, Hidetoshi Nishijima, and Parker Sawyers.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Will Be Released on July 31, 2026
The fourth Spider-Man movie in the MCU is coming to theaters at the end of July. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes place four years after the events of No Way Home. The world still doesn’t remember who Peter Parker is, and so Peter (Tom Holland) has continued with his crime-fighting duties as Spider-Man. However, when a new and mysterious threat emerges, he must team up with other allies, while also dealing with a potentially dangerous evolution of his powers.
Starring alongside Holland in Spider-Man: Brand New Day are Jon Bernthal, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Zendaya, Michael Mando (reprising his role as Mac Gargan/Scorpio), and Mark Ruffalo in his long-awaited return as Bruce Banner/Hulk.
