Ellidy Pullin has faced backlash from animal activists after she was seen riding in a horse-drawn carriage with her daughter Minnie and mother Karen during a European getaway.

The influencer, 34, shared a video to her Instagram this week which showed the three generations of her family enjoying a casual ride through the streets.

Ellidy said the trio made sure to check that the horses were ‘well looked after’, but she was later criticised by animal activist account Warrior For Animals on Wednesday.

The page reshared Ellidy's clip, saying it was ‘disappointing’ to see her ‘promoting’ horse-drawn carriages amid calls to ban the mode of transport.

'I have been sent this video hundreds of times and agree with you all that it's disappointing that Ellidy is promoting horse drawn carriages,' they said.

'Especially when the laws are cracking down on it. It is not just about animal welfare but the well known dangers of this industry where tourists have lost their lives too.'

'Please, Ellidy, don't promote this animal cruelty. Horse drawn carriages are starting to be shut down around the world for good reason,' they added.

Ellidy uploaded the video of her and her family using a horse-drawn carriage earlier this week, cuddling up with her four-year-old daughter and her mother.

'Yes we are on a f***ing horse and carriage!' she captioned the video, seemingly anticipating the backlash.

'Promise we gave the horse so many pats and checked with the owner that the beautiful horses are well looked after.

'Minnie bloody begged us. Last mode of tranny for today pls.'

Daily Mail has reached out to Ellidy for comment.

In recent years, there have been calls for bans on horse-drawn carriages in cities around the world over safety and animal welfare concerns.

In March, Belgium became the first country in Europe to enact a national ban on horse-drawn carriages.

Meanwhile, other cities across the globe such as Beijing, Prague, Paris, Barcelona, Malaga, London, Oxford, Montreal and Toronto also have bans in place.

Numerous local bans also exist in cities across the United States.

Four years ago, former Victorian premier Dan Andrews banned the use of horse-drawn carriages in Melbourne's busy inner city streets.

Since June 2022, carriages have not been permitted on public roads in the CBD area, bound by Flinders Street, Spring Street, La Trobe Street and Spencer Street.

Operators are still allowed to drive the carriages outside this zone within the City of Melbourne, with pre-booked passengers.

Ben Carroll, who was the roads minister at the time and is now Premier of Victoria, said it would ensure safer streets and protect animal welfare.

'We've heard the community's concerns about horse-drawn carriages and this proposal will improve safety for everyone on some of our busiest streets,' he said.

'We will continue to work with our road safety partners, RSPCA and the community to ensure animal welfare and safety across the industry.'

Sally Capp, who was the Melbourne Lord Mayor at the time, said it would improve safety on some of the city's busiest roads and allow for better management of horse-drawn carriages.

'We know that road and footpath space in the Hoddle Grid is at a premium, which is why we need to keep people moving as best we can,' she said.

Ellidy shot to fame following the death of her former partner, snowboarding champion Alex 'Chumpy' Pullin, who drowned on the Gold Coast at the age of 32 in a freak spearfishing accident on July 8, 2020.

In the months following his death, Pullin underwent posthumous sperm retrieval and later welcomed their daughter Minnie in October 2021.

Ellidy is now engaged to be married to her new partner Brock Wadsworth.
