In over three years at Collider, senior author Jake has now penned over 2500 articles covering a wide range of TV and film for the resources, lists, utilities, news, and interview teams. Alongside interviewing stars such as Selin Hizli, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Harlan Coben, and Chelsea Peretti, Jake was lucky enough to visit the set of Aardman and Netflix's Wallace and Gromit: A Vengeance Most Fowl in 2024, getting the chance to chat with four-time Academy Award winner Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham. Jake has also worked for other publications, including Agents of Fandom.
However, this last chapter in the movie trilogy won't be the last we see of Dune, especially considering the franchise's huge success since Villeneuve's first adaptation. In 2024, Dune: Prophecyarrived as the first small-screen installment in this expanding series, taking place 10,000 years before the events of the movies. After a few weeks on air, HBO confirmed they were renewing Dune: Prophecy for Season 2, with production on the sophomore outing finally coming to an end earlier this month.
But what about the future beyond Season 2? Does Dune have the potential to last for many more years yet? In a new interview, HBO boss Casey Bloys has addressed the future of the sci-fi favorite's place on the small screen, saying, "I think with all of these properties, you could see… I mean, putting aside that there are various constraints about what you can and can't do, show-by-show… but I think with any show, you can imagine various prequels, sequels, whatever." Bloys added:
"But even with that, I go back to… I look at it script-by-script. You know, just because something is big IP in terms of viewership or fan base, nothing guarantees that people are going to tune in… well, maybe they'll turn in initially, but nothing guarantees the show will be good or that the audience will be big and stay big. There's no guarantees to it at all. So [IP is] a nice thing to have, but you still have to develop. You still have to go through development and find shows that are worthy of investing your time and money in."
These television artists were posthumously recognized for their work, and the awards they received were testaments to their lasting legacies.

Starring the likes of Emily Watson as Valya Harkonnen, Olivia Williams as Tula Harkonnen, Chloe Lea as Sister Lila, Travis Fimmel as Desmond Hart, and more, Alison Shapker's Dune: Prophecy received positive reviews upon release, although it failed when compared to Villeneuve's ambitious big-screen adaptations. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Season 1 earned a middling 65% average score from critics, with the consensus on the site reading, "Grounded by reliably terrific performances from Emily Watson and Olivia Williams, Dune: Prophecy lacks the spice of Denis Villeneuve's films but compensates with addictively perilous palace intrigue."
The first season of Dune: Prophecy is available to stream on HBO Max. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
